Oh yes, any excuse to say home and watch Bozo the clown. Talk about a childhood hero everything about the Bozo show was magical.
Again for me it had a lot to do with Cookie. For some odd reason, I favorited the side kick I guess. Always rooting for the Under Dog if you will. I know that a few different cities had Bozo's just like Horror host. It makes you wonder why can't TV just be simple and fun anymore.
And who did not want to be on the Grand Prize Game? I know we sent in our postcards every year in hopes that we could win that bike from home.
And then there is Wizzo to this day I still quote the " Duty...Duty... Duty..." while waving my hand over something that I want to work! If only the VCR came along a bit sooner I would not have missed so much school. Or running home for lunch just to catch what little we could.
What a fun hour of my day, I still love watching Bozo when WGN runs a special every Christmas season. My girls seem unimpressed by my childhood tv I guess if it's not a talking CGI dog then they don't care.

I somehow missed the part of childhood when clowns are seen as awesome. Or I was just a really hard child to entertain... :D

I grew up in the Chicago area and I used to watch Bozo the Clown. I enjoyed the Grand prize game. I always felt bad for those kids who missed cup number 1. To bad all those great local kids shows are gone.
ReplyDeleteYeah, your right when they missed that first bucket it was sad.
