What I Played in 2019

Just a quick snapshot of what I played in 2019, as you can see what months we had musicals. I'm a little shocked at only playing 21 games this year. I never care about the achievements or my game score but I do like looking back on what I played. I'm not sure how they break this down but I know in October we played a lot of Friday The 13th as well yet it does not show up on the list.

I will say Untitled Goose Game is worth the hype and Stanger Things will be played more soon, in fact, we just started playing for the first time the other day.

So this might not be a complete list but it is a snapshot. What was your favorite game of the year?

Are these the Worst Video Games of 2018?

So earlier today I gave you my top five games for this year so now let us take a quick look at the worst. Three of these games we really looked forward to playing and they just fell short and one made me so mad I could not even talk about how I  wasted 30 bucks! So here you go...

Number 5

Oh man, this was a hard one I was so excited to play this old-school platformer. Sadly it fell short for me it was not the worst thing I played but one that was a disappointment. This 3D platformer was a bit lacking in challenge and variety. I do hope Super Lucky's Tale continues into the future as the world of video games is lacking in a new mascot.

Number 4

What is it that has gamers going insane over Fortnite? I will admit the Thanos season was fun but that was it for me. Between the media, overhype, and youtuber's this lame game has become this year's big deal. And those poor parents with kids that have fallen into addiction playing this game, man! I have heard some really scary stories, for example, one of my buddies kids got so upset after losing he punched a hole in the wall. And if that was not bad enough when he was allowed to have the joystick back after a week he lost again this time throwing his remote through his tv. Crazy!! This game was not for me.

Number 3

While we are at it lets talk about how boring and sad Playerunkown's Battlegrounds was. And its to bad because I had high hopes for this one, I'm not going to give up on it yet, but it is so boring I can not stick with it. At this point, Fortnite is a little better and a lot more fun to play.

Number 2

Oh, Hellow Neighbor we still can not thank you enough for ruining our Halloween. See this became available on Xbox Game Pass the week of the great holiday so we waited for Halloween night to kick back as a family to play this over-hyped train wreck. Neighbor is a stealth game with frustrating AI, horrible controls, and game-breaking bugs. We spent a few hours yelling at the screen but never accomplishing anything a good idea gone bad.

Oh man, here we go... the one game that pissed me off in so many ways...

The marking gang deserves a medal for this one! With the promise of updated gameplay, better mechanics (Last years game was good so I could not wait for this) and to play as Baseballs legends! Life was going to be good for this baseball fan and let me tell you I saved up my money to make this a first day buy and I don't do that so the burn was extra harsh this time around. This is simply not a very good baseball game and the higher price point of 30 dollars makes a sad year for RBI. The improved graphics don't do enough to save this from another sub-standard effort. This one crushed me! I know I will think twice for the 2019 season and for now will continue to play 2017 at least that one was fun in a small way.

So there you go the games that sucked the soul out of me this year. I know a game or two had to make you upset so let me know in the comments. And don't spew hate that I did not like Fortnite it's just not for everyone.

My Top Video Games Played In 2018

Wow, the end of 2018 drawers near and 2019 is ready to go! It's that time to take a look back on some of my favorite video games I played this year. This year I seemed to have played more games than usual logging in 42 new tiles yet picking my top 5 was pretty easy what was not easy ranking them one through five.

Number 5

Man what a crazy game Serial Cleaner turned out to be. This PC tile looks like a simple puzzle game but it is not! Drenched in a varnish of ‘70s retro stylings, from its funky soundtrack to its desaturated color palette, it’s incredibly aesthetically pleasing. This stealth game has you sneaking into a crime scene to clean up the blood, gather the evidence and bag the bodies. While the stealth mechanics are broadly similar to the cone-of-view Metal Gear Solid system; blunder into an enemy’s eye line and they’ll immediately pursue you. If they catch you, it’s instant death and back to the start of the level.

All though very frustrating for this simple gamer I would have to put down the joystick and walk away for a bit. But the whole time I can not stop thinking about the puzzle that I can not beat and end up back in the computer chair going at it again.

Number 4

State of Decay 2 seems to be a hit and miss with people on my end of the screen its a little of both. See when the game first starts out it is white-knuckle, balls to the wall zombie fest. As you gather your team and find a place to call home its time to grind it out with a long list of "To Do's". I simply could not put the controller down at first looking for food, ammo, health, and others to stay alive in its beautiful baron landscapes. Then the game turns on you and gets really hard for a simple gamer like me. All this did was make the old ticker beat faster and verbal obscenity flung at the tv screen, but I liked it!

Sadly the grind gets old fast and the lack of zombies gets old after while I like the building up your team aspect but sadly other games came along and took me out of the Decay that my State was in. The game looks good to play and honestly, I should go back and see what is going on with my team.

State of Decay 2 still stands tall as one of the best games I played this year.

Number 3

Friday the 13th is the second-spookiest day of the year, so when it rolled around back in April Jason fans where treated to Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle. With its light, silly, and utterly gore-drenched gameplay Killer Puzzle is a simple block-sliding puzzler dressed up as a slasher horror hooked on its splatter-rampage. He’s a good boy, really – listens to everything his mum tells him. What was really great about Killer Puzzle was Jason himself from all the flicks like Jason part 2 and Uber Jason from X. And if that's not enough you will also get a few other surprises along the way like Butcher Jason or Frozen Jason. And those cutscenes those glories blood splattered cutscenes!

For a free game, the challenge grows stronger never allowing it to get boring and challenging enough that you have to walk away from it even if just for a bit.  I'm pretty sure this is still a free download for the PC check it out here. Those poor poor campers.

Number 2

This is one of those games made for gamers like me with short races, simple controls, and easy layout and an open world letting me pick where to go next. And with some sweet rides, good tunes (although at one point I turned the radio off) and most of all Season's Forza 4 is a fun ride. In fact, when I first fired up my racing machine I was not impressed. Sure it looked good but the control took me a bit to get used to and honestly I just wanted to see all the seasons. So the other day I sat down to give this another spin trying to find my way to Autumn the greatest season of them all. As I was gliding through the races and time I found my self getting better at driving and started winning race after race. And once the leaves changed colors I was hooked. So hooked I played for almost 6 hours straight just to play through the final two seasons.

I was hooked no lie I just could not put the controller down, I get it the hype for this game is real and let me remind you I'm a simple gamer for those die hard's you can really tweak your car for an even better experience and yet here I was having a blast. Then I made it to winter and oh man the open world turned beautiful. From the colorful town's to the open rode Forza looks amazing and plays well. I'm glad I gave this one a second chance.

Drum roll, please...........

(Deep Voie) and now Number One!

Ask anybody that comes in contact with me from family to co-works to my faithful readers Stardew Valley is still my all-time favorite game and still played today! I have logged hundreds of hours into its gameplay and along comes Graveyard Keeper an edgy, much cooler, cousin of Stardew Valley. In this eerie sandbox style game, you take control of the Graveyard Keeper, an unnamed protagonist who is transported to this dark and gloomy world after a traffic accident. You are quickly introduced to your new best friend, the skeletal head of Gerry, who will help you out in getting started in your new morbid profession. After getting a lay of the land you will be introduced to comrade donkey, the capitalist hating, body transporter who will bring you fresh corpses regularly.

A majority of your time will be spent working all day gathering supplies from the surrounding area to bring back to your front yard and construct components for other crafts and items, then retiring to your home to sleep in your bed to regain energy and any health you have lost. The game has a multitude of characters and often they provide quests the progress the story and unlock new sections of the game. Often, these characters only come on a specific day of the 6-day week similar to Animal Crossing.

In fact, this game blends together Starwdew Valley and Animal Crossing very well giving it a simplistic in design and complex enough to get sucked in for hours at a time. The music is creepy and bouncy, like the perfect Halloween song you’ve never heard. The visuals are just as convincing, with rolling waves of fog, rainstorms, and all around a dark atmosphere of death that even during the daytime feels gloomy. I have thoroughly enjoyed all my time spent with this game and would recommend it to anyone looking for a low-stress virtual escape. Graveyard Keepers is by far the best game I played all year and as you can see I played a few great games this year. And even though I have not poured the hours into this one yet I will and plan on playing for hours over Christmas break!

Mr Keeper your simply the best!

So what was your favorite game of 2018? Let me know in the comments below and look for my not so favorite games played this year later today.

2018 Xbox Year In Review

Man, I would have thought I played way more video games than 112 hours worth!? And it cracks me up that Stardew Valley was still my most played game last year I racked up over a hundred hours on that one alone. I guess in 2019 I better up my game playing.

And for RBI Baseball coming in second is so odd to me I really hated that game at first. Being a White Sox fan your team already stinks so it was super frustrating to play. I have since picked it up again to play a bit and the glitches seem to be fixed so you just might see this on next years list.  I do need to jump back into Graveyard Keeper that is a fun game.

So what kept you busy in 2018 and what do you plan on playing in 2019?

Call Of The Cthulhu Trailer

It was a year ago since we last heard from CYANIDE's upcoming Lovecraftian horror RPG Call Of Cthulhu. Now the game is back at E3 with a new trailer as private investigator Edward Pierce struggles to distinguish between reality, madness, and the horrific supernatural as he uncovers the mysteries of Darkwater Island. The trailer looks amazing but the first person view will keep me from playing. Check it out and let me know what you think. Pretty sure this was the best looking game to come out of E3 so far.

NO UBER JASON! Friday the 13th Game Comes to a Sad End?

Why oh Why!!! Last summer Victor Miller, scriptwriter of the original Friday the 13th film, decided the rights were his and set out to reclaim them, triggering an ongoing legal battle with those who believed otherwise. And thanks to this battle Friday The 13th game was delt so sad news! There will be no additional content added to Friday the 13th: The Game. This includes Uber Jason, The Grendel Map, Jason Kill Packs, Clothing, Emotes and new Counselors. What no UBER JASON!!! The one thing I have been waiting for is now on hold son of a b.....

Gun Media's statement read:

"As many in our community may be aware, a legal claim has been made which could affect all future Friday the 13th intellectual property. Although in the past the game has not been subject to any such claim, new content and material going forward will be affected. An initial decision, in this case, was expected in October 2017, but no decision has yet been issued. The court review of the legal rights is in the process, but final resolution may take some time. Until the claim rights can be dismissed or resolved, no new content can be released.

"When we originally learned that the game fell within the crosshairs of this legal dispute, we tried to balance the creation of new content requested by our fans against the maintenance and bug fixing that our community expects and deserves. We attempted to do both within the limits of the legal case.

"We've now been forced to accept that the lawsuit makes future content for the game, including alternate play modes, new playable Jasons, and Counselors, and new maps, unfeasible now or in the future. Although the listed content types will be affected, we remain committed to launching dedicated servers on our console platforms and providing the continued maintenance and bug fixing important to supporting our fan bas

Oh, greedy Hollywood you are a wonderful beast.

Overkill's The Walking Dead

So I'm beyond burned out on the Walking Dead but when the trainer dropped for Overkill's The Walking Dead my jaw dropped. The graphics look so clean and real that I almost can not wait for this game. Check it out...

OVERKILL's The Walking Dead is set in a post-apocalyptic Washington D.C. where up to four players try to survive and fight both the living and the dead. Looks like this tile will hit the shelves this fall just in time to play on our Halloween feelings.

A Legend Reborn

So the rumors are true! Shaq is back and in its and stars in the upcoming action-packed beat 'em up Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn, a title that's been on our radar for a number of years now. Finally, the title has now received a release date, revealed in a new gameplay video you can check out below.

Ok, I did not hate the Sega/SNES version back in the day so I'm looking forward to this button masher! Watch this space in June I'm sure I will have a review up for you. In the meantimeenjoy this picture for the classic.

#Wargames Trailer

Holy Hell have you seen the trailer for an upcoming game War Games? Not sure how this is going to play out yet but man it looks insane! Also, I'm glad that Full Motion Video Games are making a comeback.

You shape the story as Kelly and her clan of misfit hackers transform from pranksters to international hacker celebrities, taking on the powers that be under the handle #WarGames. Produced by Eko and missing pieces, #WarGames is a new interactive video experience from Sam Barlow, creator of Her Story. Coming soon to Xbox One.

Bob

MTV's Remote Control NES style

Do you remember way back in 1990 in the heyday of the NES and the shift in programming over at MTV well did you know you could play the only game show that started in a basement right on your NES! Just answer the absurd questions about Rock 'n' Roll and Junk Trivia and win lots of points. Senseless? You bet! Fun? Always! You'll be the envy of your friends, and best of all, you don't have to be smart to win!

Featuring Hundreds of challenging questions in absurd, thematic, tasteless and humorous categories. Crazy interruptions such as "Off the Air," "Home Shopping Zone," and "Ranger Bob," just like the real show. The fast and furious End Game Round that can change losers into winners. Single or group gameplay options.

So with all the retro gaming making a comeback, I ask the gods of Nintendo to consider remaking a classic game show. Man the hours I put into this game and the hours my wife (then girlfriend) sat and played laughing our butt's off and having a good time.

Sure it's NES graphics and sound but it was the early 90's and they worked! The questions may have looped back around after a few playthroughs and that is why this fun game needs a reboot! When the new gen's this game could be even better now. Justs fest your eyes on the glory below.

I feel like they got the look and feel right!

The questions were always fun and sometimes silly.

It's all there in 8-bit glory. Man, now I want to uncover my NES and pop this bad boy back in. So how many of you remember this TV show? Have you played the game?

Sadly we lost Ken Ober way to soon he died at his home in Santa Monica on November 15, 2009, at the age of 52. According to friends, Ober had been feeling ill and was complaining of headaches, chronic chest pain, and flu-like symptoms the previous afternoon.
