Synopsis:

A rash of bizarre murders in New York City seems to point to a group of grotesquely deformed vagrants living in the sewers. A courageous policeman, a photojournalist, and his girlfriend, and a nutty bum, who seems to know a lot about the creatures, band together to try and determine what the creatures are and how to stop them.

Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller was just the right amount of 80s cheese to kick off the new Last Drive-In series on Shudder staring Joe Bo Briggs.

And all though Joe Bob shocked the fans with such a low 2-star rating I'm here to say C.H.U.D. is still a fun little 80s cult classic. Back in July of 2018 Joe Bob and Shudder broke the internet bringing back the show for what was assumed to be a 24-hour marathon one-off, hence its title, The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs. But the event proved so popular that Shudder brought him back for another marathon at Thanksgiving, Dinners of Death, and a third in December, A Very Joe Bob Christmas. But Shudder on March 29, has brought back Briggs who will host a weekly double feature of movies for Shudder on Friday nights, for which he will both introduce and interrupt films, delivering to viewers the distinctive mix of horror-themed wit and wisdom he honed on TMC’s Joe Bob’s Drive-In Theater in the ’80s and ’90s, as well as on TNT’s MonsterVision.

What's really great about The Last Drive thanks to Twitter this has proved to be communal experiences for horror fans who weren’t physically watching the movies together.

Although this Shaksperaing Actor lead movie staring Home Alone's John Heard, Daniel Stern who headed back to New York for Home Alone Two take the driver seat in this one. Sterns real-life wife Laure Mattos, is the movie's first on-screen victim. C.H.U.D. was also the first gig for Kim Greist and Jay Thomas who is seated next to a young John Goodman in the dinner scene. According to Brigg's most of the cast had Theatre background with Shaksper in the park leading the way. For me, the acting in a low budget B movie was pretty spot on leaving one to think this is why people actually like it.

What people complain about the most is the lack of C.H.U.D.'s. The C.H.U.D.s themselves are barely there for far too long. Low budget horror and sci-fi movies try a lot of strategies to make the most of what they have, cleverly keeping the audience from realizing they aren’t seeing as much as they think they are, embracing humor and camp or being, simply put, groundbreaking and creative but for many C.H.U.D. employs none of them, opting instead to solve the problem with acting. I'm not sure I agree 100%.

I first watched C.H.U.D. back int he early heyday of VHS and have not seen it since so I was going into it very fresh and open-minded. I came out of it still wondering why so much hate for the Urban Dwellers? With a simple plot and simple monsters you still get a pretty decent '80s romp that for some can still be fun.

''C.H.U.D.'' makes no pretension toward serious theses about government or the environment. It is meant to be light entertainment, that is in the category of horror, it still stands as a praiseworthy effort.

Plot: During World War 2, a small plane off the south coast of America is low on fuel and blown off course by a storm. Guided by a faint radio signal, they crashland on an island. The passenger, his manservant and the pilot take refuge in a mansion owned by a doctor. The easily-spooked manservant soon becomes convinced the mansion is haunted by zombies and ghosts. Exploring, the 3 find a voodoo ritual in the cellar, where the doctor is trying to acquire war intelligence by transferring personalities into his zombies. But the interruption causes the zombies to turn on their creator.

The other day I was flipping through my Roku channels just looking to see what I could delete. You know the channels that seem to take up space for no reason at all. Well, I was browsing Screamzine to see if it was worth keeping due to the fact I hardly find anything on it to watch. Just before hitting the star key I see The Mummy and the Monkey season 1. Now, what is odd about that +Janet Jay and +Grimm Decay popped up a day prior on Google+ as somebody I should know. So this is rather weird, moving my finger away from the star key I pressed play instead!

New this week on Full Moon Streaming William Shatner brings you "The Creeps". Mad scientist brings Dracula, the Wolfman, the Mummy, and Frankenstein's Monster to life... but there's a problem and they end up three feet tall.

I have yet to see this movie so I'm really looking forward to diving in later today. If you missed it last week they added Castle Freak one of my favorites from the full moon family.

Horror Host Sammy Terry dies at 83

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The legendary Bob Carter (Sammy Terry) passed away Monday at the age of 83.

Bob Carter, known to many as Sammy Terry, was a longtime fixture in Indianapolis TV.

From 1962 to 1989, Carter hosted “Shock Theater” and “Nightmare Theater” on WTTV-4. Sammy Terry became a Hoosier icon with his skull cap, heavy makeup and pet spider George, introducing horror movies to late-night audiences.

Carter is a native of Decatur, Ill. He graduated from Millikin University with a degree in radio communications. After earning a master’s degree from Syracuse University, Carter worked as a disc jockey in Fort Wayne before coming to Indianapolis.
According to sammyterrynightmares.com , an open visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Singleton Mortuary on Friday. A private burial is planned for Saturday.

Carter's son has carried on his father's tradition, making appearances as Sammy Terry.

Creepy Kofy For Creepmas

Horror hosts from California are No Name, a local radio personality, and Balrok, a demon, who claim to broadcast from caves under the KOFY studios. They have a snarky frat-boy style and have had many off-color guests, including frequent guest adult film actress Annie Cruz. The broadcast features in-house band the Deadlies, a surf/punk band and the hosts are often flanked during the broadcast by a variety of bikini clad models/actresses/fans. As of the third season, the show added two regular go-go dancers known as the Cave Girls whom often perform with the Deadlies. Being a fan of Horror Host's I sure with you this fine Creepmas Day "Don't Open Till Christmas". Originally aired 12/24/1211

2012 Golden Cob Winners

In Franklin, Indiana fans of the misunderstood genre the B movie they celebrate these classics. The Golden Cob has been going on for 5 years. This year's list is a fantastic one. Congratulations to Bill Oberst Jr. for Best rising star. I could not agree more. In fact I believe I said the same thing in my AB Vs Zombies review.

It was also a pleasant surprise to see "Rare Exports" and "Super Shark" on the list. Looks like I need to dig around for Hanna and maybe sit through "Attack the Block". Of course a big congrats to Mr.Lobo on his Horror Host award.

Lets get cozy and comfortable with Grampa Monster

We all love Al Lewis most of us enjoy the Munsters tv show and I love Horror host's! So when I stumbled on to a mix of all three I could not help to be over joyed. Lewis hosts an hour long preview tribute show to classic horror films featuring the work of Lon Chaney, Jr., Bela Lugosi, Vincent Price, and Boris Karloff.

With 28 classic trailers like Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolf Man, and the Mummy. Grampa host's these little nuggets from a beach chair (?) in a cemetery. The jokes are corny of course the preview's are before restoration days and the sound well you will have to turn in up.

This is a direct port over from a VHS but it's not 1990 VHS quality. In fact it looks more like a second generation tape recoreded from tv back in early 80's on a two head VCR. The Star Wars Christmas special that is floating around the internet almost looks better at times. The host bit's are so washed out its almost hard to watch.

Now this DVD retails around $9.99 but most sites are cleaning this out. I have found it for as little as $2.99. At three buck's I would say do not skip it. This will make for a great party DVD at Halloween time. At 10 bucks rent it once first. If your lucky like me to find it for a quarter well only a fool would skip out on it.

So in the end I wanted to love this DVD but with poor picture and sound it left me feeling a little let down. If you can find this cheep it's worth the grab just for the fact it's Al Lewis and Classic monsters. It will make for a great party DVD in the back round. Despite all that I did enjoy this DVD and I'm giving it 3 bloody brains.

Story: While boating, a quartet of teens, Reg , Skip, Julie, and Pam, accidentally discover an island run by a mad scientist named Doctor Myra who intends to turn everyone in the Untied States into a Zombie. The teenagers become trapped on the island and are temporarily imprisoned in cages. They are freed when other teenagers arrive with the sheriff (who turns out to be in league with Doctor Myra). A complicated fight scene serves as the climax, in which a de-zombified gorilla arrives just in time to attack Dr. Myra's henchmen and allow the teens to escape. When they are safely back on the mainland, it is implied that the teens will receive a reward for discovering the island, and will have an audience with the President of the United States.
