Happy Pitcher and Catcher's Eve

This record cold is just a bit much this week. Especially with spring training right on our heels. My blog suffers this time of the year due to the time I have to spend on the computer is spent looking into sleeper picks and what pitchers to take first in my Fantasy Baseball Draft.

Stay warm out there.

I'm really not sure how I feel about this! Check out Inside the Magic for more toy fair coverage.

This is one of those lost gems put out by Empire Video back in the VHS hay day. Also one of my guilty pleasures. The movie is so crazy and bad that I just eat it up. I have to say this is a big step for Kino Lorber they are not known for putting out lost Science Fiction/Horror movies.  This will be a blind by its one of those that has eluded me on DVD.

Plot: With her personal and professional life in shambles, Elise ends up having to take a job as a counselor at her old summer camp. There, she reunites with two estranged friends who attended camp and never left. When the future of the camp is put in jeopardy, the three friends must band together to save it, changing the course of their lives forever.

If you have never attended summer camp you will not love this movie as much as I did. See I went to MDA Summer Camp for 20 years. I walked away when my camper became too old to go anymore. Then my new life took over and thank god I never lost those friendships I made back then. Just like the movie I was away for 10 years. Now I did not have my wife leave me or lose my job like the movie but I did have a best friend (Thanks, S…

Writers:  Patrick Edgeworth Russell Hagg

Stars:  David Argue John Ley Nicole Kidman
Plot: Two BMX expert bikers and a friend of theirs (Kidman) become entangled with a group of bank robbers after discovering a carton of walkie-talkies.
We will always have these movies that others talk about and it peeks your curiosity. BMX Bandits is one of those movies. Of course, there is Nicole Kidman with all that curly hair that everybody must like. And how about those bikes? I was 13 when this came out and at that time I was all about my bike so I would have watched this over and over again. The movie does hold up over time with a fun story for kids and plenty of BMX bike action. But what does not hold up his the soundtrack and the sound effects.

I'm pretty sure if I was writing this in 1983 there would be a different story. They fit the era but was a…

#Fthismoviefest short recap.

This past weekend was the 4 annual all Twitter-driven film festival. Nothing better than sitting in the comfort of my own home talking movie's with other folks from around the globe watching the same movies.

2015 marked my third year taking part in the movie festival. And every year it gets bigger and a whole hell of a lot of fun. I already pledge that I will make this bigger in my household next year. I plan on having friends over, food, and an overloaded WiFi.

I'm telling you if you have not heard of this yet you owe it to yourself to look into in. Admittedly it is a little hard to watch and tweet and the same time but there are no rules saying you can't just watch the movie.

I know because I just wanted to sit and watch Hard Target and all its coolness! Ok, so a quick review of the movies I did stick around to watch.

First up the uber fun and completely pun driven Demolition Man. It was a lot of fun to revisit this bad boy with a group of people. So many things that I fo…

God what is with me and all these slow burn movies I'm watching lately. Here I was trying to mix it up a bit and fell way short. Yeah, I know this was a 1970's movie and  I should know better. But It's Charles Bronson for crap sakes there should be things blowing up and people dieing left and right. All we get is a movie of a tough guy learning to fly a helicopter and airplane. Woopty frigging do! And Robert Duvall is so stoned and ugly in this movie you almost do not recognize him.  The good, one real…

Plot: Every year in June approximately 1500 new players out of high school and college are chosen from the amateur baseball draft and sent to play in the minor leagues...
Every year starting in December the baseball itch starts to rev up. Especially after the off season both Chicago teams had. And in January I find myself watching MLB Network religiously. And by February Fantasy Baseball is ready to go with pitchers and catchers reporting. So after reading about this movie I made it my mission to seek it out. I was shocked that it's on youtube from the Starz Network for free, not something put up illegally.
The documentary follows the lives of two minor league players on their journey to the big show.  John Drennen, a High School All-American from San Diego, California was selected in the …

A documentary on DIY producer/director Roger Corman and his alternative approach to making movies in Hollywood.
Jack Nicholson openly wept for his mentor Roger Corman during filming of this documentary. That's how powerful this Doc was. I was moved myself for the deep respect Jack Nicholson, Martin Scorses, and Ron Howard had for Corman. And I had no clue Corman gave William Shatner his first role! And for a movie I have never heard of. "The Intruder" is something I feel the need to track down and soon! We all know Roger has put out some great B movies, but I will admit my shock at how many hit movies he had as well. Sometimes it's good to pull back the horror movie curtain and take a look outside.
Death Race had a huge impact on …
