Happy Halloween!

Wow did Halloween get away from me this year! So much going on and not enough time. We have not even carved the pumpkins yet. But in all of this craziness we have done some really cool and fun things.

Early on in the month Justine's Halloween Blog came up with a great and fun idea to share Mix Tapes! I had a blast digging through my old Cd's looking for the right songs. Justine's mix is still in my car and has been playing scene the day it arrived.

Next up AIEOU....and Sometimes Why came up with another great idea with the Great Pumpkin Gift Exchange.

I sent out a few movie posters, convention cards,  eyeballs, gummy boogers and body parts. My Halloween Mix that I shared with Justine, home made Svengoolie DVD hosting Killer Klowns from Outer space and More. I had fun putting this together. When my box came from Lisa over at Maple Grove Cemetery I was blown away! My girls loved the big rat and decorations and still drink out of the gobbets at dinner but what blew me a way …

Happy Halloween

Help us celebrate Ella's 4th year of being healthy while she fights diabetes.

Throughout November, we're asking people to better appreciate what people with type 1 diabetes (T1D) experience every day, every hour by taking part in a unique mobile-based challenge: T1D for a Day.

When you sign up for the T1D for a Day text challenge, you agree to receive as many as 24 text messages over a 24-hour period that simulate the constant blood sugar testing, insulin injections, and dietary decisions that confront people with T1D.

While no virtual campaign can recreate the many needles required or the physical and financial tolls of this serious disease, T1D for a Day seeks to deepen understanding of the many heroic steps our friends and loved ones with T1D take each day.

Please sign up for the T1D for a Day challenge now!

Countdown To Halloween Day 11! Cricket Magazine

Every year when I was younger around Halloween I could not wait to receive my copy of Cricket Magazine. The covers always blew my young mind. Most of the stories were pretty dark as well. Sadly the building in LaSalle (a few blocks from my house) suffered from a fire a few years ago and sits crumbling to this day. The magazine is still published a few miles away in a neighboring  town.

Cricket is an illustrated literary magazine for children published in the United States, founded in September 1973 by Marianne Carus, whose intent was to create "The New Yorker for children." Marianne Carus still serves as the magazine's editor-in-chief.

Each issue of Cricket is 48 pages. The magazine is published nine times a year (monthly, with some of the summer months combined) by the Carus Publishing Company of Peru, Illinois. Its target audience is children from 9 to 14 years old. Until March 1995, Cricket was published by theOpen Court Publishing Company of LaSalle, Illinois, now p…
