Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween Everybody!! Wow-what a great day, we started at 11:30 in the morning with free Jersey Mikes for the kids to Trunk or Treat at the collage. Free Crapes, Hot Chocolate, Carmel Apples, and of course Trick or Treating.

Well over 500 cars showed up for Truck or Treat I sure hope they had enough. I really hope to get the video done this week. A little bummed at how many houses did not have lights on but were pleased with the interesting ways to hand out candy. For a COVID year, we sure made the best of it!

Truck Or Treat

Well, today was different our traditional Truck or Treat was more of a parade and that's ok. The weather here is so much better than last year's snowstorm and 60 degrees tomorrow is a welcomed change. Lainey leads her class as they march on bye dressed as condiments.

One of the coolest things Ella came up with was going out and doing a photo shoot. I never thought about that during this Covid crisis and I must say I love them!

Even Lainey Got in on the action.

And It looks like the Man Cave makes an appearance

John Carpenter's Captain Voyeur (1969)

Captain Voyeur (1969)

Captain Voyeur (1969) was the first short film by director John Carpenter while a student at USC Cinema. The 8-minute film is about a bored computer worker who becomes fixated on a woman at work and follows her back to her home. The film remained in the USC's Hugh M. Hefner Moving Image Archive until 2011 when it was rediscovered by archivist Dino Everett. The film is notable because it includes several elements that would appear in Carpenter's later horror film, Halloween. Everett says that the similarities include a striking resemblance between the lead actresses.

The film was selected in 2011 for preservation by the National Film Preservation Foundation because of its historical significance in showing Carpenter's development as a filmmaker.

Not great but still worth the watch let me know what you think.

"Covered" In Halloween

Thank You Elvira for the new song but as COVID gets out of hand in our town we can only hope the porch lights will be on.

I watched Haunt over the weekend and was not impressed but when those end credits rolled and this song played I stuck around. Such an eerie sound with a beautiful voice like that.

I figure we might have a few Miley fans stopping by not the best cover but not bad.

Well...

My youngest found this song we still go back to it such a beautiful rendition.

Here is one for your playlist nothing creepy about a few girls singing right?

Man, we are in the home stretch! I really need to head over to the Countdown to Halloween home page and visit other bloggers and you should too.

The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid Of Anything

If you were to ask my girls what book was our favorite for them growing up they would both say "The Little Old Lady That Wasnt Afraid of Anything." by  Megan Lloyd, and Linda Williams.

When a cheerful old lady heads out at dusk for a walk, she runs into a series of very eerie surprises in the middle of the dark forest. Shoes with no one inside them clomp, clomp behind her. Pants with no one inside them wiggle, wiggle after her as she walks along.

A shirt, gloves, and a hat all join the parade, with every article of clothing making a special spooky noise that invites kids to clank and clomp and howl along. Maybe the old lady is beginning to get a little frightened now, especially when a pumpkin head appears!

The utterly satisfying conclusion of this marvelous story shows children that facing fears can often turn something that seems scary into a delightful surprise.

Still a wonderful little Halloween story even if I read it better wink wink. Did you have a favorite kid's book that you read to your kids over and over again? Let me know below.

While your flipping through these blog pages, make sure to check out the other scarecrows counting down to the magical holiday. Countdown to Halloween.

Bugs Bunny Creature Features

Bugs Bunny's Creatures Features
1992 | G | 25 Minutes | Family | Warner Brothers

Directors: Greg Ford, Terry Lennon

Writers: Greg Ford (story), Terry Lennon (story)

Stars: Jeff Bergman, Mel Blanc, Mel Tormé

Synopsis:
"The Duxorcist", "Night of the Living Duck" and "Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers" are combined to form this TV special.

Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers is a Bugs Bunny short subject directed by Greg Ford and Terry Lennon and released in 1992. The cartoon was intended for theatrical release but eventually aired as part of the television special Bugs Bunny's Creature Features. Its premise is modeled after the 1956 film Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and it is considered subversive and a lampoon of cheaply-drawn animation.

The Duxorcist has Daffy Duck receiving a call from Melissa Duck that her house is being haunted. Daffy quickly rushes over and checks the house. When he opens the oven, it is a frozen wasteland with small people living in an igloo. When he opens the refrigerator, fire leaps out and burns him. When the cupboard door is opened, there is a train heading straight towards him. He quickly slams it and goes to talk to Melissa. He soon finds out that she is possessed, so he gets a book and starts reading corny ghost jokes. The three ghosts that possessed Melissa to jump out and chase Daffy down the street.

Night of the Living Duck finds Daffy Duck reading a scary comic book called "Hideous Tales". The story ends in a cliffhanger, and Daffy rifles his bookcase looking for the next issue ("It's a veritable collector's item!"). A Smogzilla clock falls, and beans Daffy, making him think he's the featured act in a nightclub. All the customers at the nightclub are classic movie monsters. Fortunately, there was a bottle of "Eau de Tormé" in Daffy's dressing room, which makes him sing like Mel Tormé. He sings "Monsters Lead Such Interesting Lives" to the room, and they love it. Then he goes around the room, greeting the patrons, but his good-natured ribbing of "Smogzilla" doesn't go over well with the giant lizard, who eats Daffy. Daffy wakes up, to find himself stuck in a wastebasket, along with the comic he was looking for, with "Smogzilla" on the cover. Daffy scoffs, and the Smogzilla on the cover comes to life, saying, "You were expecting maybe Calvin Coolidge?"

Not the best collection of Halloween spooky shorts but fun to revisit. So sit back and enjoy this 1992 VHS tape.

When you are done make sure to hop on over to the Countdown to Halloween headquarters for more Halloween goodies.
