Corona Zombies!

Corona Zombies
2020 | R | 60 Minutes | Horror Comedy | Full Moon Features

Director: Charles Band

Writers:
Kent Roudebush
Silvia St. Croix

Stars:
Cody Renee Cameron
Russell Coker
Robin Sydney

Synopsis:
Ditsy damsels in distress, toilet paper famine, inept world leaders, mass-media gone wild, a virus from Hell and hordes of ghouls hungry for human flesh combine in Full Moon’s maniacal horror-comedy hybrid CORONA ZOMBIES!

Too Soon?

Corona Zombies
Cody Renee Cameron as Barbie

Boy, you jump on Letterboxd or any other social media people that have not seen Corona Zombies are blasting the decision for the "fast turn around" or "looking to cash in" with most saying its too soon. To those people, I say sit down and relax. What Charles Band brings you is a creative satire poking fun at the pandemic. Interestingly enough it works! And it's an hour to sit on the couch and loss yourself in a wildly entertaining flick. If your a fan of MST3000 or Riff Trax this is right up your alley.

Nailed It!

What makes Corona Zombie wildly entertaining is the sharp tongue and cheek writing from Kent Roudebush and Silvia St. Croix both have had solid careers working with the Full Moon Camp, Croix worked on two to the Ginger Dead films where Roudebush has given us some true Full Moon Classics like Zombie Strippers, Killer Eye: Halloween Haunt, and many of the Evil Bong's. With the use of Hell of the Living Dead and Zombie Strippers respliced and weaved together tell the story. We are treated with their dialog dubbed over these clips. The silly one-liners like “Wuhan? But I like that rap group” or “Coronavirus? Why is everyone drinking beer?” to crazy ideas like Bat Soup starting it all. This really pieces this one together well kudos to the editors. The writers are the true all-stars here.

All By Myself?

Corona Zombies

Why only three actors? Well, we are in self-quarantine remember? This is handled well with such a small crew the bulk of the story is told through Cody Renee Cameron's character. We also get Full Moon staple Robin Sydney as the voice per phone conversations and one actor Russell Coker as a zombie looking for toilet paper. Cameron is a breath of fresh air even tho her role is very limited. And the makeup effects used to make the Zombie are fantastic. They only concern I have is why did Barbie (Cameron) wear clothes in the shower? She is not following the rules here! Her clothes need to be washed when she got back from the store but hey maybe this is her way of doing that?

Does the Novelty last?

Cody Renee Cameron
Why is she wearing clothes in the shower?

CZ is a lot like a one night stand, it comes in hot and heavy with laughs aplenty but after 20 minutes the novelty starts to slowly wear off. You are then stuck with the bulk of the movie through cut scenes from the other movies that tend to drag on from time to time. Let's just say I have no desire to watch Hell of the Living Dead. Thankfully the jokes still happen at a frequent pace that you do not lose all hope.

Russell Coker
Makeup Effects are on point!

Look we all need a quick little escape from the stress of this pandemic and this short 60 minute is just enough stress relief. Yes, it pokes fun at what is going on around the world, our president and of course those pesky hoarders of toilet paper. So is it too soon well I say no! CZ is a well crafted extremely funny at times gem that will leave Full Moon Fans happy and just might find a batch of new fans as well.

Cody Renee Cameron
Oh, that much needed Toliet Paper.

If your a fan of cheese and you all know I am Corona Zombie's might drag in the middle but still, it still comes out a fun little picture that is full of laughs during our time of need.

Zombie Yule Log

Warm up the Roku as a new Creepmas channel has landed.  Zombie Yule Log is not your traditional Yule Log. This yule log features zombies, fire, machine guns, explosions, and kids roasting marshmallows over a burning skull in a garbage can - and that's only the first 2 minutes of the nearly hour-long video. Fast forwarding through the video yields a more traditional scenario - at least there is Christmas music playing while a skull burns in a trash can, planes drop bombs and zombies shuffle by. The video lasts for nearly an hour and is a mix of live action and animation while a Christmas music plays with sirens and detonating bombs sounding in the background.

IF you do not have a Roku you can still enjoy it over on YouTube! Ahhhh I feel warmer already.

A Killer Party You Won't Forget

I Was A Teenage Zombie
1987 | Color | 1 Hr 30 Minutes | Horror | R | Periclean

Director:
John Elias Michalakis

Writers:
James Aviles Martin
 Steve McKoy

Stars:
Michael Rubin
Steve McCoy
George Seminara

Six high school buddies accidentally kill a drug pusher and dump his body in toxic waters. When the pusher returns as a zombie and goes on a killing spree, their only recourse is to dump the body of one of their own recently dead, and have him return as a "good" zombie to face off with the "bad" one. The producer's hook for the film was to feature music by groups the likes of The Fleshtones and Los Lobos.  Source IMBD

After working on Toxic Avenger and Splatter University John Elias Michalakis steps up to the plate making his directorial debit with I was A Teenage Zombie and hits it out of the park. Taking what seems to be a good group of friends and a fun teenage romp mixing them together and getting one funny laid back movie. Using towns in his backyard of New York and New Jersey we get a nice blend of small town life with a big town flair.

It's About To Get Buck Wild!

Whit Albrecht

The comrades Craig Thompson, Jerry, Lance and Tom Alexander travel to the Buck Wild Farm in Texas to spend vacation hunting deer. Soon they discover that the owner Clyde was bitten by a Chupacabra and has infected his daughter Candy and neighbors that now are zombies. Will they survive?

Sometimes you just have to crack open that Blu-Ray case to a silly low budget movie and hope for the best. Buck wild is one of those buddy movies that never really finds its feet but the charm keeps you interested.

Zombie's just want to have fun

I used a different free editor for this one. WeVideo, I am kind of annoyed by the watermark, but I really liked how smooth the program worked. This is the video for the Zombie Pin Ups. This is always a fun little show at Flashback Weekend. Make sure to give the video a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel.

eBay Horror Tiles

I have been cleaning up my Horror Collection this week and decide it's time to move a few of these tiles. I have been a big fan of Swap a DVD for many years, but some of my tiles don't move very fast. So I'm going to give eBay a try. Here is what I  started with.

 Hellbound Hellraiser 2 VHS

For some goofy reason, I had two copies of this one. The last one I bought the other day is a rare copy so I'm going to keep that one and try and dump this one. Feel Free to Bid on it here.

More Dead Ahead

In case you have not heard The Walking Dead has renewed for a 6th season.

Zombie Ass on Zombie Tuesday

Zombie Ass: The Toilet of the Dead
2011 | Color | 85 Min | 1:85:1 | R | Horror| 5.1 | Arcimboldo Y.K

Director: Noboru Iguchi

Writers: Noboru Iguchi

Stars:
Arisa Nakamura
Mayu Sugano
Asana Mamoru

Wracked with guilt over the suicide of her bullied sister, young karate student Megumi accompanies four older friends on a trip into the woods: smart girl Aya, her druggie boyfriend Také, full-figured model Maki, and nerdy Naoi. Things start to go badly when Maki finds a parasitical worm inside a fish - and wolfs it down, in the hope that it will keep her skinny. Soon after, they are attacked by a crowd of poop-covered undead who emerge from an outhouse toilet. The group seeks refuge in the home of the strange Dr. Tanaka, who conducts experiments on the zombies and the parasites ... and who has another fate in mind for the five strangers. Can Megumi's karate help them escape, or will she have to rely on the liberating power of flatulence to defeat her demented captor?

We are always looking for something different when it comes to Zombies. Of course, the title alone makes you look twice. After watching the trailer I knew then it was a must-see. The only problem finding it. I scoured convention floors looking for this then one day there it was on good old Netflix.

After getting the kids in bed it was time to watch cute little Japanese girls kick zombie ass. The movie is a cliche of American zombie flicks. Of course, the cast has its druggie, smart girl, babe, and of course a nerd. So with that being said, it was kind of a letdown. It was not really a fresh idea even though the vision was quite entertaining with some new elements tossed in.

All in all, it's a fun hour and twenty-five minutes that can go either way to a zombie fan. I'm glad I witnessed this film but I'm also glad I did not waste money on it. It's more of a parasite fart joke movie than a zombie flick in "The End" I still recommend checking out Zombie Ass: The Toilet of the dead. And don't forget to check out the other bloggers during Count Down To Halloween!

Count Down To Halloween Day 2 The Zombies are Coming

I can not think of a better way to kick off Zombie Tuesday's then with some The Walking Dead News.

For the second consecutive year, AMCTV.com is launching The Walking Dead original webisodes. Titled "Cold Storage," the web series is developed, produced and directed by Emmy Award and Greg Nicotero.

"Cold Storage" tells the story of a young man, Chase (played by Josh Stewart), trying to reach his sister in the early days of the zombie apocalypse. He finds temporary shelter in a storage facility run by a former employee named BJ (played Daniel Roebuck); however, things are not what they appear.

In addition to Stewart (The Dark Knight Rises) and Roebuck (Lost), the cast of "Cold Storage" includes Cerina Vincent (Cabin Fever) as Kelly and Chris Nelson (Kill Bill) as Harris.

Watch all four webisodes now!
