Can't wait to see this B movie classic! Did you know There was a sequel to this film in the works in 1956. Screenwriter Franklin Coen and producer William Alland submitted a script titled "Aliens In The Skies" to Universal Pictures, and for a short time it was announced as in "pre-production development" at the studio. However, the studio boss, Edward Muhl, shot down their proposal when he looked over the proposed budget for the film, to be shot in Technicolor and CinemaScope, and to co-star Rex Reason and Faith Domergue reprising their roles, to be released in 1957. It was too expensive, he said. Muhl's idea of a science-fiction movie in the 1950s was a cheaply-made B-movie with a monster in it for the kids.

The film also was shown in drive-in theaters in the US in the summer of 1960 on a double bill with Forbidden Planet. It was also re-issued in theaters in America in July 1964.

This Island Earth will air on MeTV Saturday night at 9:00 pm. On WCIU at 11:00 AM the Universal Classic Dracula's Daughter. With U-Too getting Killer Klowns From Outer Space at 3:00pm.

This just blows me away the kings of cheep dvd sets and bare bone movies gets a deal with Sony!! First Disney and now this. Wow makes you wonder if the big house's are done with home entertainment. I like Mill Creek and I'm not putting them down. I just hope that they give the movies a true High Def look and not just some cheep port over of the VHS.

Entertain People and they Won't Hit You with Bill Oberst Jr.

I was watching a trailer on you tube witch lead me to Zombie Ass that then lead me to (Not Sure Why) Bill Oberst Jr.'s interview. In the interview he talks about life growing up and how he talks to kids on the subject today. It is always great to see actor's being good role models. Its just not something that happens everyday. I was bullied as a kid. It took a long time to get over it. But I did learn to forgive and move on. Most of those kids are worse off then me today. Thanks Bill for killing Zombie's, Shagging Nude Nuns, and helping today's youth.

Perfect!

Perfect
"The best part was seeing my teammates excited." said Philip Humber. After nine strike outs and only 96 pitches Philip Humber became the 21st  Major League player to be perfect! That' 27 up 27 down no hits walks or errors.

Mind you Humber is the fifth starter in the rotation. The little guy to fill in the crack's. Written off my Oakland Kansas City and Cleveland due to Tommy John surgery.  And one tough cookie.

Baseball has been around for 140 plus years. More people have orbited the moon than have pitched a major league perfect game. Five are members of the Baseball Hall of Fame: Cy Young, Addie Joss, Jim Bunning, Sandy Koufax, and Catfish Hunter. Two other White Sox make the elite list Charlie Roberston on April 30, 1922 in just his fifth career start, against the Detroit Tigers. He became the first picher in major league history to do it on the road.

On July 23,2009 Mark Buehrle threw his perfect game against the Tampa Bay Rays. It was the eighteenth perfect game. Every White Sox's fan will always have "The Catch" etched it to their heads for ever in the 9th inning when DeWayne Wise robbed Gabe Kapler of a home run.

So Humber's 21st perfect game is the first since Roy Halloaday. Its is the sox 18th no hitter and Humber's first career complete game.

 Humber as he approached history
The final out by Humber was recorded on a check-swing strikeout of Brendan Ryan. The ball went past catcher A. J. Pierzynski, but Ryan was unsure whether he had checked his swing or not (which would have made the pitch a ball, and given him a walk), and stayed at home plate long enough for Pierzynski to pick up the ball and throw it to first to end the game. Humber finished the game with 9 strikeouts. The other batters were retired with five groundouts and 13 flyouts. Humber threw only 96 pitches, making this the first perfect game thrown in under 100 pitches since David Cone's perfect game on July 18, 1999. Humber only started 29 Major League games prior to throwing his perfect game, making him the pitcher with the second fewest starts prior to throwing a perfect game, behind fellow White Sox pitcher Charlie Robertson. He is the seventh former member of the New York Mets to go on to throw a no-hitter for another team. The Mets have never had a no-hitter thrown in their history.

So I tip my hat to you Philip Humber and I thank you. I was at a school event and was not able to watch this game. But on a dying cell phone I was able to share this magic moment with my dad as he gave me a play by play. That is a memory that will last a long time. I have been blessed to share White Sox history with the man how bought me my first glove. We watched Buehrle pitch perfection with goosebumps and silence. But most of all I lived out a childhood dream watching the last out of the World Series with my dad next to me. So again thank you Phil Humber you have no idea what you have done for your fans!

Drac's Daughter Terrorizes Svengoolie!

Dracula's Daughter (1936)
Director:
Lambert Hillyer
Writers:
 Garrett Fort (screenplay),
 Bram Stoker (story)
Stars:
  Otto Kruger,
  Gloria Holden
  Marguerite Churchill

Dracula's Daughter begins a few moments after Dracula ends. Count Dracula has just been destroyed by Professor Von Helsing (Edward Van Sloan). Von Helsing is taken by police to Scotland Yard, where he explains that he indeed did destroy Count Dracula, but because he had already been dead for over 500 years, it cannot be considered murder. Instead of hiring a lawyer, he enlists the aid of a psychiatrist, Dr. Jeffrey Garth (Otto Kruger), who was once one of his star students. Meanwhile, Dracula's daughter, Countess Marya Zaleska (Gloria Holden), with the aid of her manservant, Sandor (Irving Pichel), steals Dracula’s body from Scotland Yard and ritualistically burns it, hoping to break her curse of vampirism. However, Sandor soon makes her realize that her thirst for blood has not been quenched and that all that is in her eyes is "Death". The Countess resumes her hunting, mesmerizing her victims with her exotic jeweled ring. After a chance meeting with Dr. Garth at a society party, the Countess asks him to help her overcome the influence she feels from beyond the grave. The doctor advises her to defeat her cravings by confronting them and the Countess becomes hopeful that her will plus Dr. Garth's science will be strong enough to overcome Dracula's malevolence.

The Countess sends Sandor to fetch her a model to paint; he returns with Lili (Nan Grey). Countess Zaleska initially resists her urges but succumbs and attacks Lili. Although the girl survives the attack, when Dr. Garth tries to hypnotize her to learn what happened, she suffers heart failure and dies. As the Countess comes to accept that a cure is not possible — and the doctor discovers the truth about her condition — she lures him to Transylvania by kidnapping Janet (Marguerite Churchill), the woman he loves. She intends to transform him into a vampire to be her eternal companion; Dr. Garth agrees to exchange his life for Janet's. Before he can be transformed, Countess Zaleska is destroyed when Sandor shoots her through the heart with an arrow as revenge for her breaking her promise to make him immortal. He takes aim at Dr. Garth but is shot dead by a policeman.

Is it wrong that I did not care for this movie at all?? I know its a classic and it has Lesbian love but sill found it very boring! Here is the song the Sven used the first airing of this show last year.

Soundgarden "Live To Rise" Review

“Live to Rise,” Soundgarden’s first all-new song in 15 years. The move is to help promote this year's highly anticipated movie "The Avengers".

The original song written and recorded for and appearing in the film is the first single from the Marvel Music/Hollywood Records release Avengers Assemble. Soundgarden’s “Live to Rise” was the #1 most added song in its first week at Alternative and Active Rock U.S. radio. The single will be available as a free download for one week, April 17 through April 24. A pre-order for Avengers Assemble, the 13-track compilation of music from and inspired by the film, is also available on iTunes beginning April 17.

The band has been gearing up for a reunion tour and album to be released later this year. The Avengers sound track is a who's who of 90's alt rock.  With artist like Rise Against, Papa Roach, Bush, Buckcherry, and Five Finger Death Punch to name a few. The album will hit stores May 1st. You still have a few days to grab the free  song on Itunes. http://www.iTunes.com/Avengers

As for the song well I'm done with the 90's rock sound so for me it was just ok. It really never catch's the feeling of a summer block buster! What is with the oddly placed heavy gutars? And do we need to go back to that sad voice music? UGH, Lets hope the rest of the album rocks on. But hey the price was right. 2 Bloody Brains

DevilDolls DVD (Trilogy of Terror) Review

Very Cool Cover art.
Full Moon Horror back on April 2nd announced its latest DVD release, a trilogy of terror! DevilDolls that will only run you $14.98 for 3 really good movies.

The 1st in the set is Demonic Toys from 1992 and directed by Peter Manoogian and written by Charles Band. The setting for this movie is a botched arms dealer bust that leads to the raising of a sixty-six-year-old demon with the power to bring toys to life. The Demon is looking for a body to inhabit so he can increase his powers. It just happens that one of the police officers is pregnant with the ideal host. The murderous toys close in on their victims leaving the officer to fight for her life and the soul of her unborn baby.

The second in the trilogy is Ragdoll from 1999. Directed by Ted Nicolaou who also did  Terror Vision and Subspecies 4: Bloodstorm. Written by Benjamin Carr. A kid accidently conjures up the magic of the killing kind with the help of Shadow Man. Together they bring back to life a ragdoll. Of course, he summons the ragdoll to kill and evil music company whose boss wants his music group to sign a contract. Silly rappers dolls are for kids!

And last of the 3 is the wildly popular Doll Graveyard (2005) written and directed by Charles Band. And stars Jared Kusnitz who as gone on to do a slew of Disney jobs like Prom, Good luck Charlie, and Phineas and Ferb. Let us not forget the beautiful Kristyn Green from Evil Bong and The Haunted Casino. Those 3 reasons alone make this DVD a must-buy the set.

Here is the plot for you, It is 1905 and 12-year-old Sophia plays all by herself in her big, creepy house with four handmade dolls as friends. When her abusive father has finally had enough, he forces her to bury them in the backyard. But, after she slips and accidentally breaks her neck, her dad buries her right along with the dolls. 100 years later, the Fallbrook family moves into the very same house. Guy Fallbrook finds the buried dolls while playing in the backyard. After the 100-year-old, decaying dolls are unearthed, Sophia's spirit begins to possess Guy and the dolls are brought back to life.

Enter the world of DevilDolls today available for Purchase on Fullmoondirect.com. The only thing I wish full moon would do more is to offer a little  more. Like Blu-Ray more features like audio commentary and remixed sound. But if you are looking for some cheap entertainment then this set will do you good.

Overall based on 2 of the 3 movies I give this 3 Bloody Brains out of 5.

Dracula (1931)

Director: Tod Browning
Writer: Bram Stoker
Adapted by: Hamilton Deane
Stars:
Bela Lugosi
Helen Chandler
David Manners

After a harrowing ride through the Carpathian mountains in eastern Europe, Renfield enters castle Dracula to finalize the transferral of Carfax Abbey in London to Count Dracula, who is in actuality a vampire. Renfield is drugged by the eerily hypnotic count, and turned into one of his thralls, protecting him during his sea voyage to London. After sucking the blood and turning the young Lucy Weston into a vampire, Dracula turns his attention to her friend Mina Seward, daughter of Dr. Seward who then calls in a specialist, Dr. Van Helsing, to diagnose the sudden deterioration of Mina's health. Van Helsing, realizing that Dracula is indeed a vampire, tries to prepare Mina's fiance, John Harker, and Dr. Seward for what is to come and the measures that will have to be taken to prevent Mina from becoming one of the undead.

Did you know that Dracula was released on February Th 1931, what a great date movie back then. And when Universal bought the rights to the play Lon Chaney was to play Drac but passed the year before the movie was made.Due to studio demands to cut costs, the film was shot in sequence. And Edward Van Sloan and Dwight Frye also appeared in the horror classic Frankenstein. They are the only 2 actors to have appeared in both films.

The Dead Shall Ride Again! Zombrero

How the West was won... A horse for every man, a home for every woman, and a bullet for every zombie!

Wow just stumble on to this, I love westerns and I love Zombies. Zombrero looks like it's going to tie the two together very well. You can follow along for up dates on twitter via @Zombreromovie or watch here because I know I will be following along waiting for this killer gem to hit the streets.

Full Horror asked the writer if this was a horror movie or a western and I like their reply:

"The plan is make a tense, scary western. Like The Walking Dead meets Deadwood. Play it straight, not go for the campy laughs." said Zombrero.

Enjoy the trailer and watch for Zombrero coming soon!

Friday The 13th Timeline

The timeline of the Friday the 13th films is very difficult to determine because the sequels often contradict the earlier films. After each event, the source is noted in parentheses. Keeping with the title of the series, an attempt  to place most major events on or around a Friday the 13th.

There may be a few (unavoidable) discrepancies in the timeline. The ones that have come to my attention are noted in [brackets].

1930
Pamela Voorhees - maiden name unknown - is born. (Tombstone in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter)

1935
Camp Crystal Lake established. (Sign in Friday the 13th)

1945
Pamela and Elias Voorhees are married. (Due to Pamela's young age, the wedding may have occurred after Jason was conceived.)

1946
June 13 - Jason Voorhees is born to sixteen-year-old Pamela Voorhees. (Date from Friday the 13th, year from Jason Goes to Hell)

1954
[guess] - Diana Voorhees is born to Elias Voorhees and an unknown woman. (In Friday the 13th, Pamela calls Jason her "only child." Whether Pamela and Elias divorced prior to her birth, Diana is not Pamela's daughter.)

1957
Summer - Jason purportedly drowns at Camp Crystal Lake, but his body is never recovered. His mother Pamela is the camp cook. (Year from Friday the 13th)

1958
June 13 (Friday) - Two camp counselors are murdered at Camp Crystal Lake. The murders go unsolved for 21 years. (Friday the 13th prolog)

1959-
1961
[guess] - Fires prevent Camp Crystal Lake from reopening. (Enos in Friday the 13th)

1962
Attempt to reopen Camp Crystal Lake halted by "bad" water. (Enos in Friday the 13th)

1972
[guess] - Eighteen-year-old Diana Kimble (daughter of Elias Voorhees, Jason's half-sister), gives birth to Jessica Kimble (Jason's niece).

1979
June 12-13 (Friday) - Steve Christy plans to reopen Camp Crystal Lake. He and six of his counselors are killed by Pamela Voorhees. Alice, a female counselor, survives by decapitating her. (Friday the 13th, year from tombstone in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter) [June 13, 1979, isn't really a Friday.]

August - Alice returns to Crystal Lake. Jason surprises her with his mother's severed head and stabs her in the temple with an ice pick. Jason takes Alice's body. (Friday the 13th Part 2 prolog. Paul says Alice disappeared two months after the events of the first film.)

1982
Summer - Teenaged Chris flees from her family's Crystal Lake cabin into the woods after a fight. She is attacked by Jason Voorhees but passes out. When she wakes, she is back home in her own bed and her parents will not speak of the matter. (Friday the 13th Part 3 flashback)

1984
July 10-11 - Five years after Pamela Voorhees's murder spree, Paul Holt opens a counselor training camp adjacent to Camp Crystal Lake. After murdering several counselors, Jason is confronted by Ginny Field. She hits him in the shoulder with a machete but he survives, attacks her and kills Paul. Alice's corpse is found in Jason's shack. (Friday the 13th Part 2)

July 12-13 (Friday) - Jason kills a cafe owner and his wife near Crystal Lake and gets a new outfit. He makes his way toward the summer home "Higgins Haven" and kills several vacationing teenagers. Chris survives to hit Jason in the head with an ax, but she breaks down the next morning after hallucinating an attack by Mrs. Voorhees. (Friday the 13th Part 3. Chris and Andy refer to a "weekend" in the country, and in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, one of Rob's clippings calls Jason the 'Friday the 13th Murderer'.)

July 14-16 - Jason's body is taken to the Wessex County Morgue, from which he escapes. After returning to Crystal Lake and killing several people, Jason is killed by 12-year-old Tommy Jarvis. Unbalanced, Tommy spends the next four years in mental institutions. (Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter)

1985
[guess] - In an attempt to disassociate itself from Jason Voorhees, Crystal Lake changes its name to Forest Green.

1987
Summer - Tommy, looking very mature for 15, is moved from an institution to a halfway house for troubled teens. After his son is killed, ambulance attendant Roy Burns impersonates Jason. Tommy is forced to kill Roy, further affecting his mental state. Tommy attacks Pam, one of the survivors but is subdued and returned to an institution. (Friday the 13th Part V)

1988
May 12-13 (Friday) - Tommy, now a grown-up 16-year-old, is released from the mental institution. When he digs up Jason's grave, a bolt of lightning reanimates Jason. Jason kills his way toward Camp Forest Green, which is once again attempting to open its doors to campers. Tommy drowns Jason in Lake Forest Green (Crystal Lake) and the camp is shut down permanently. (Friday the 13th Part VI, date from Deputy Cologne)

1989
October 13 (Friday) - John Shepard is killed when his 13-year-old daughter Tina uses her telekinetic powers to collapse the dock he is standing on. Tina is sent to a mental hospital. (Friday the 13th Part VII prolog, day, and date shown.)

[guess] - After failing to attract new residents, Forest Green gives up and returns to the name Crystal Lake to capitalize on being the site of the Voorhees murders. The city restores "Camp Crystal Lake" signs to the defunct property.

1993
August 12-13 (Friday) - Tina Shepard, now 17, returns to Crystal Lake with her mother and her psychiatrist, Dr. Crews. Tina accidentally raises Jason with her telekinesis, and he goes on another murderous rampage. Tina finally forces Jason back into the lake. (Friday the 13th Part VII)

1994
May 12-13 (Friday) - The final class of Lakeview H.S. graduates and a reawakened Jason crashes the graduation cruise aboard the S.S. Lazarus. Jason kills many of the passengers, with most of the rest drowning when the boat sinks. Jason follows the few survivors into New York City, ultimately drowning in a flood of toxic sewage. (Friday the 13th Part VIII)

1995
January 13 (Friday) - Stephanie Kimble, daughter of Jessica Kimble and Steven Freeman, is born.

October 13 (Friday) - After years of unsolved murders, the FBI blow up Jason in an ambush. During the autopsy, his evil heart possesses the coroner and he heads back to Crystal Lake. (Jason Goes to Hell)

October 20-21 - Bounty hunter Creighton Duke makes a statement on tabloid TV program "American Casefile" that Jason is still alive. Jason hops from body to body, committing a series of murders in Crystal Lake before being "reborn" in his own body, then killed by his 22-year-old niece, Jessica Kimble. (Jason Goes to Hell)

2002
September 13 (Friday) - Dream-killer Freddy Krueger resurrects Jason to create fear among the teenagers of Springwood. But Jason is not so easily controlled and doesn't stop killing the teens Freddy needs to give him power. A battle between the two finds Jason battered and bloody, but victorious. (Freddy vs. Jason. Year - construction site sign says Occupancy Spring 2004. Month - trees are green and corn stalks are full-grown.)

2008
[guess] - After his capture and conviction of hundreds of murders, Jason Voorhees is sentenced to death - a sentence the government finds difficult to carry out. (Rowan in Jason X)

2010
August 13 (Friday) The Crystal Lake Research Facility, built to house and study Jason, is reduced to a skeleton crew in anticipation of the cryogenic suspension of its subject. Jason nearly escapes but Project Leader Rowan manages to freeze them both in cryostasis. (Jason X prolog)

2455
August 13 (Friday) - After the ecological collapse of the Earth, a class on a field trip from Earth 2 returns and recovers the frozen bodies of Rowan and Jason. Jason awakens aboard the transport Grendel, killing most of the Marines and students on the ship. After the android KM-14 nearly obliterates him, nano-technology repairs and "upgrades" Jason and he resumes his single-minded quest. Sgt. Brodsky, the only remaining Marine, sacrifices himself to carry Jason into Earth 2's atmosphere. (Jason X)

  "Sssssss" (1973)
Me-TV 9:00 pm Central

Director: Bernard L. Kowalski

Writers: Hal Dresner (screenplay), Daniel C. Striepeke (story)

Stars:
Strother Martin
Dirk Benedict
Heather Menzies-Urich

David, a college student, is looking for a job. He is hired by Dr. Stoner as a lab assistant for his research and experiments on snakes. David also begins to fall for Stoner's young daughter, Kristina. However, the good doctor has secretly brewed up a serum that can transform any man into a King Cobra snake and he plans to use it on David.

Two quick trivia: All the poisonous snakes featured were authentic and the cast actually did have to interact with them for filming. Only in the shot where Strother Martin grabs the King Cobra's head during the show was a puppet snake used.

This film was released by Universal as a double feature with The Boy Who Cried Werewolf, making the program one of the last double bills released by the studio.

I own this on DVD and have not had a chance to  see it yet so I can't wait to see this. Also, this is the first airing of Ssssss on Svengoolie.

The Avengers Monorail

Ricky over at Inside the Magic posted this great video of the Mono Rail at Disney and its flashy Avengers wrap. Disney did something similar for Tron that was cool but this rock's the boat!!

The Avengers on the wrap are Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow. This makes me want to jump in the car and drive 23 hours just to look at in in person. Way to go Disney I like it.

Nude Nuns With Big Guns (2010)

Director: Joseph Guzman
Writers: Joseph Guzman, Robert James Hayes II

Cast
Asun Ortega- Sister Sarah
 David Castro -Chavo
Perry D'Marco- Father Carlittos
Maxie J. Santillan Jr-Mr. Foo
Bill Oberst Jr- Brother John
Maz Siam- Father Bernardo
Xango Henry- Kickstand

Plot: Upon taking her vows to become a nun, Sister Sarah is abused, brainwashed and drugged into submission by the corrupt clergy. On the verge of death from a lethal dose of drugs, Sister Sarah receives a message from GOD telling her to take vengeance on all those who did her wrong. Armed with God's will and an arsenal of big guns, she dispenses Judgment Day on her former tormentors. When the church hires the merciless motorcycle gang the "Los Muertos" to track down and kill her they soon realize that this SISTER IS ONE BAD MOTHER.

Oh boy, where do I start? I know with another shower to wash away the sin maybe. Is it wrong that I enjoyed this movie? The images painted on the screen hit the mark with its 1970's grindhouse look. This would have been a huge midnight showing hit. All the elements are there strong cast, believable plot, and well tons of nudity.

Asun Ortega plays the part with great strength and poise. And seeks revenge better the Uma Thurman in Kill Bill. David Castro was also a perfect fit for Chavo. I did not mind the knock at the Catholic church, in fact, the story is believable in this day and age. And I can handle the over the top nudity but I had trouble with the overdone girl on girl stuff. Just not my bag of tea sorry.

The pace of the movie does get slow at time's and some of the violence was over the top but that is was makes the movie watchable. Fair warning the rape scenes are just a little hard to watch and very brutal. The soundtrack is also a strong player in this movie.

And to Bill Oberst Jr who stopped by the Cave in a past post, you die well friend you die well!

So, in the end, I recommend this movie to anybody that likes brutal revenge flicks with a ton of nude nuns, drug dealers, and a big black man named Kickstand!

The film wins me over with its grindhouse look super cool soundtrack and a well put together cast. It does have a slow  pace at times and finds its self going over the top but overall I give it
