Well, the first of many sad days upon us as California's Los Angeles County becomes the first to say no to Trick or Treaters. The L.A. County Department of Public Health put out guidance on how to celebrate Halloween safely, saying some of the traditional ways of celebrating do "not allow you to minimize contact with non-household members."
According to the report Trick-or-treating at houses is not permitted and neither are "trunk-or-treating" events, in which children go from car to car instead of door to door. Gatherings and parties with non-household members, as well as festivals, live entertainment, and haunted houses, are also not permitted.
Instead, the L.A. County Department of Public Health suggests people celebrate with online parties or contests, Halloween movie nights at drive-in theaters, Halloween themed meals at outdoor restaurants, Halloween art installations at outdoor museums, and home and yard decorations. *Sigh* the online thing is fine but it is getting rather old.
