He had but one body - yet lived with two souls!

Director: Terence Fisher

Writers: Anthony Hinds

In Spain, Leon is born on Christmas day to a mute servant girl who was raped by a beggar. His mother dies giving birth and he is looked after by Don Alfredo. As a child, Leon becomes a werewolf after having been taken hunting. As a young man, he works in a wine cellar and falls in love with the owner's daughter Cristina. One full moon, he again turns into a werewolf and terrifies the town.

I have always liked this take on the Werewolf and its religious undertones. In fact, the movie's Spanish setting came from a backlot that was built for a Spanish Inquisition film. This film was not produced because the Catholic League of Decency threatened to ban it. For many this was also one of the best looking Werewolves even  though makeup artist Roy Ashton based his makeup for this film on Jack P. Pierce's makeup for The Wolf Man. The way this was filmed was always so cool to me the bold color's gorgeous woman and the whole Christmas Curse plot!

So make sure you tune in tonight “Curse of the Werewolf” will run at 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 central, or check local listings for your area.

Shocking! - Horrifying! - Macabre!

I think it's pretty wild that I just picked up this VHS and now it is on TV. Kind of looking forward to watching this one next week. Also looking forward to seeing Sven at Flashback Weekend this year only one week away! I have not made it to a flashback in a few years now so I'm pretty stoked about it.

The most amazing suspense-thriller of the year!

Shadow Of The Cat
1961 | B&W | 79 Minutes | 1.33:1 | NA | Horror | Mono | Hammer Studio's

Source: Svengoolie

Director: John Gilling

Writer: George Baxt

Stars:
André Morell
Barbara Shelley
William Lucas

Plot: A female house cat sees her mistress murdered by her husband and two servants and becomes ferociously bent on revenge.

As I have stated in the past I'm not much of a fan when it comes to Hammer Horror. Not sure why part of me feels it comes from the classic monsters that they gave their spin on. Was never a fan of those but after seeing the preview for this on Svengoolie I got pretty excited about it. Now I'm months behind on my Sven viewing but was happy to jump ahead to this one. Why not a cat cause all kinds of chaos to help solve a murder of her master.

Evil begets evil on the sabbath of the undead!

Source: DVD

Director: Alan Gibson

Writer: Don Houghton

Stars:
Christopher Lee

Story:

It's 1974 - two years after the events in Dracula 1972. Strange things are happening - some girls are disappearing from the street and some of them are secretaries to important people. The Police and the Secret Service become interested when rich people (including a Lord) are pouring their empires into a foundation in which the boss hasn't been seen and a photograph of him doesn't produce a figure. The Inspector from D72 comes to see Van Helsing and Jessica and their investigations lead them to believe that the boss is Dracula...

Christopher Lee as Count Dracula
After hearing about Christopher Lee passing away it was not a shock but still brought sadness. So over the weekend I planned on watching one of his many Hammer Horror Features that we always hear so much about. After scanning through my collection I settled on Count Dracula and His Vampire Brides or also know has The Satanic Rites Of Dracula.
