Reel Evil Commentary Track

 Reel Evil Review

While hitting the house work today I listened to Reel Evil's audio commentary. I reviewed the movie during the countdown to Halloween. Reel Evil is a fresh look at the POV style film. I was shocked to hear how much work goes into this type of movie. Director Danny Draven guides you through his movie with insight and stories about the shoot to fill in the time. And he does a great job in doing so. Reel Evil commentary track can be seen at full moon streaming. But I suggest watching the movie on DVD first.

While on a South Seas trip, a professor falls in love with marries an exotic native woman. What he doesn't know is that she was raised by superstitious natives who believe her to be some kind of supernatural being.

Wow, a movie on Sven that I have never heard of! That always excites me. This seems to be part of Universals Inner Sanctum series that featured six movies. Calling Dr. Death (1943), Weird Woman (1944), Dead Man's Eyes (1944), The Frozen Ghost (1945), Strange Confessions (1945), and Pillow of Death (1945). All of them star Lon Chaney Jr.. The Inner Sanctum started as Mystery books and a radio show.

Also on tonight's show will be the Museum Of Broadcast Communications ceremony segments. And with Weird Woman only clocking in at 63 minutes we should get a good look at that night.

You can enjoy it all on MeTV tonight at 10 pm Eastern/Pacific, 9 pm Central, and please check your local listings for when it airs in your area. In Chicago, viewers get a second look (Or for me a first look) at Rondo Hatton in “House of Horrors” at 11 am on their sister station, WCIU, the U!

After stealing a mysterious orb in the far reaches of outer space, Peter Quill from Earth, is now the main target of a manhunt led by the villain known as Ronan the Accuser. To help fight Ronan and his team and save the galaxy from his power, Quill creates a team of space heroes known as the "Guardians of the Galaxy" to save the world.

In my heart, I really wanted Marvel to strike lightning twice. See I never really read Iron Man but when the movie came out I was blown away. Again with Guardians never read the books. When Marvel put the word out that they were going to do this movie at the time it was a risk. Sure it was a summer smash that I waited to blind buy on Blu-Ray. Maybe that was the wrong thing to do. See this movie did not strike lightning twice for me and I think it is because I did not see it on the big screen.

I love the fact that another horror movie director gets a shot at a big budget movie. James Gunn has come a long way from his Troma days and his first feature  "Tromeo and Juliet." and let's not forget "Slither" and the fact that he wrote the new "Dawn of the Dead". So like Sam Rami (Spiderman) before him it is really cool to see all of this do well.

Lloyd Kaufman on the left
The movie is beautiful, the location contrast works very well in the movie and draws you into the story. The charters are fun and team up very well. At times, I felt wrong thinking that a green female was that good looking. Thier were a few cameos like Rob Zombie voicing the Ravager Navigator, Gunn's buddy Nathan Fillion shows up as a prisoner as well as Lloyd Kaufman the man that gave him his start. And plenty of Marvel Easter eggs for all the fanboys. I admit it I missed Howard the Duck the first time around and look forward to seeing him in the next movie. Yes, I read Howard the Duck growing up.

The soundtrack recently went platinum with a mix of 70's and 80's tunes. The big song being "Hooked on a Feeling."  This first film soundtrack ever to reach number one without a single original song. It was nominated for 2015 GRAMMY Awards for Best Soundtrack.

In the end, I liked Guardians I just did not love it like all my buddy's. They have seen it more than once some even more. I may sit through it again someday before the sequel hits the big screen.

Starlord sorry I give you...

Marcel De Lange is a struggling sculptor whose work and sanity are derided by the New York art critics. After waspishly officious critic F. Holmes Harmon ruins a sale for De Lange by dismissing his expressionistic cubist work as "tripe" and later gloating about it in his column, the distraught artist goes to the river to drown himself. There he discovers the half-drowned body of the notorious serial killer, the Creeper, and takes him back to his studio to recover. Feeling empowered by the friendship of the acromegalic sociopath, De Lange tasks him with murdering the critics who have pilloried him in print. When successful commercial artist Steve Morrow is wrongly suspected of the crimes, his art critic girlfriend Joan Medford decides to follow her instinct about a mysterious bust De Lange has suspiciously covered in his studio, and she decides to snoop around.

Those Nazis Think of Everything!

A team of Arctic geologists stumble across an abandoned laboratory in which the Nazis developed an incredible and brutal secret weapon during the final months of WW2.

Deep in the ice, they accidentally awaken a deadly army of flying zombie sharks ridden by genetically mutated, undead super-humans, who are unleashed into the skies, wreaking their bloodthirsty revenge on any aircraft that takes to the air.

An elite task force is assembled to take on this deadly threat and stop the Sky Sharks from conquering the air, but as time runs out, the task force realises they will have to fight fire with fire, and the stage is set for the greatest flying super-mutant zombie shark air battle the world has ever seen....

The only thing that sucks is that we have to wait until January 2017!! By then the whole shark thing will be over or about to fizzle out. Time will tell.

281 days to Halloween UGH!

The movie that I have a producers credit for hits FullMoonStreaming.com this Wednesday. Its the world premiere feature full length version of Trophy Heads. The 5 part mini series has been edited together into one film. Obsessed horror fan and his mother "collect" their 6 favorite Scream Queens while they are forced to reenact scenes from their classic horror movies.

Also Reel Evil (See my Review) is one  of the better found footage movie's I watched last year. Have not sat through the Commentary on the DVD yet so this gives me a good excuse to do so.

Did a little Movie Marathon Last Night

Both kids where at sleep overs last night to the wife and I had a rare moment to catch up on some movies. So here is just a quick hit on how we felt about them.

First up The Other Woman. We  both wanted to check this one out. If fell way short of our expectations. I like Leslie Mann but she drove both of us nuts during this movie.

3 Bloody Brains out of 5

Next up HBO was running Blended. We missed the first 10 minutes but decided to dive in anyway. We both like Drew Barrymore so way not right. Seems this movie is getting some bad press I think its up for a razzie even though we enjoyed it. Pretty predictable but fun non the less. Much better then The Other Woman.

3 Bloody Brains out of 5

So  by this time it was getting late and really we where just waiting for that call saying your daughter wants to come home. So we hit up Netflix and settled for Silver Linings Playbook. I must say Bradly Cooper was fantastic. Knowing how these people suffer first hand he was wonderful. Jennifer Lawarence did a great job as well. It's a great movie that was worth all the Oscar buzz a few years ago.

4 Bloody Brains out of 5

I know Mann again right? Well this time she was a little less annoying. This movie was the best one of the night. My wife and I kept saying its us, Oh my gosh that's our girls. Now I did not have any trouble turning 40 but why is wives cant deal with it? This was a very enjoyable movie on so many levels. If you have not see this yet I have to say find it its well worth it.

4 Bloody Brains out of 5

So their it is in a nut shell we finally gave in to the fact that our kids where fine and having the time of there lives and that this dad could stop worrying. It was great to just veg out on the couch with my wife and get caught up with a few movies.

AS PRIVATE EYES...they're getting an Eyeful!

Revenge Comes Online

While video chatting one night, six high school friends receive a Skype message from a classmate who killed herself exactly one year ago. A first they think it's a prank, but when the girl starts revealing the friends' darkest secrets, they realize they are dealing with something out of this world, something that wants them dead. Told entirely from a young girl's computer desktop, CYBERNATURAL redefines 'found footage' for a new generation of teens.

This looks insane sure its MTV so I will suck but it sure its home for today's youth. If its PG-13 it will fill the seats.

Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid.

Ordered up the fly this week. Looks pretty intresting. I have not bought into this many comics in years.

The story that began in David Cronenberg’s film update of The Fly continues here with a five-issue miniseries The Fly: Outbreak written by Brandon Seifert (Hellraiser, Witch Doctor) with painted interior and cover art by menton3 (Silent Hill, Monocyte). Issue one will hit in March and will boast variant covers by Jason Edmiston and Lukas Ketner.

Years ago, a scientist had a horrific accident when he tried to use his newly invented teleportation device and became a human/fly hybrid. Now his almost-human son continues to search for a cure for the mutated genes. But a breakthrough turns into a breakout, and anyone exposed risks turning into a monster as well…

“To be totally honest, The Fly is one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen!” said Seifert. “It was really resonant for its time. And in the last 20 years or so, with all the advances in Genetically Modified Organisms, the film has taken on a lot of meaning it didn’t originally have. It’s really exciting to explore those elements in this miniseries — and great to have an amazing, super-distinctive artist like menton3 on the visuals!”

“Equal parts gory allegory and tragic love story, The Fly was perhaps David Cronenberg’s crowning achievement,” editor Denton J. Tipton said. “That’s a lot to live up to, but I believe Brandon and Menton are equal to the task. The script is sharp and poignant, and the art is visceral and haunting. No one is safe!”

Nothing spreads faster than fear… be part of the outbreak March 2015.

Killer Puppets Comic's!

Action Lab Entertainment has drafted the cult horror movie franchise Puppet Master as the newest in its growing line of comics titles beginning March 2015. Licensed directly from creator Charles Brand, the Puppet Master comic series sees the menacing marionettes who have evolved from creepy villains to somewhat likable anti-heroes looking to get a life of their own outside of their wooden bodies.

Written by long-time fan (and Action Lab co-founder) Shawn Gabborin and illustrated by Michela Da Sacco, Puppet Master follows in the footsteps of the movie franchise’s ten films while aiming to be new reader friendly for those that haven’t seen the films.

I know my self I have already pre-ordered and can not wait for this it hit the shelves. Full Moon came on strong last year and with the announcement of the Puppet Master Comic fans have been getting excited about a great 2015 as well.

Here is a look at the new covers as well as a few sample pages.

Trophy Heads Ep One

If this works...

Trophy Heads is free right now on Hulu http://www.hulu.com/watch/732146#i0,p0,d0

Kind of just testing this to see if it works

Holy Crap!

The much sought after Eddie and the Cruisers is coming to Blu-ray April 14th! When I worked in a video store this was one of the most asked for titles along with Convoy. I myself was always looking for this on hard to find DVD. I could not be any happier that it comes from the studio that knows what we (Ok I) want. Boy I love you Shout Factory. I wore out the soundtrack on cassette I think twice!

This will be a blind buy for me and added rather quickly to my collection.

Eddie And The Cruisers

They say rock 'n' roll never dies, but one dark night in 1963, Eddie Wilson's car took a dive off a Jersey bridge with the troubled rock idol at the wheel. His body was never found. Tom Berenger (Platoon), Michael Pare (Streets of Fire) and Ellen Barkin (Sea of Love) star in this cool, compelling classic that really rocks!

Twenty years after the lead singer (Pare) of "Eddie and the Cruisers" disappeared, the band's songs are hotter than ever. And renewed interest in the band leads TV reporter Maggie Foley (Barkin) to pursue a tantalizing mystery: What if Eddie is still alive? The circumstances surrounding his death are just shadowy enough to make it a distinct possibility, and someone (could it be Eddie?) has been ransacking the homes of the surviving band members in a desperate search for tapes of the group's visionary, never-released album. As Maggie interviews the former "Cruisers," the pieces of the puzzle start to fit... but only until still deeper mysteries begin to surface.

Daredevil Coming Soon

Netflix upcoming Daredevil series premieres April 10. The power house of Disney and Marvel will bring us a 13-episode series. This will be the first in a 4 hero story arc. A Blu-Ray will follow later in the year.

The four serialized programs will total 52 one hour episodes. Followed by an eight episode mini-series event.

The other superheroes will be Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. The only hard part is knowing this will unfold over multiple years and taking the viewer deep in the work of heroes and villains of Hell's Kitchen.

The eight episodes mini event will conclude with a team up as the "Defenders" similar to The Avengers.

Should be fun but I will have to look into Jessica Jones and Luke Cage I'm not sure I know who they are.

Daredevil will star  Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Rosario Dawson, Vincent D'Onofrio, Elden Henson and Ayelet Zurer

Official Synopsis: Marvel's Daredevil is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock (Cox), who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night.

A GROUP of entitled Beverly Hills oceanography STUDENTS arrive at a mansion in MALIBU, to study the local ocean waters. However, someone… or something, has other, more murderous intent, as the Students begin to disappear, one by one, murdered by some flesh-shredding entity, leaving wounds similar in nature to a shark attack. But how is that possible, when the nearest ocean is a half-mile away?

Are you freaking kidding me! Talk about capitalizing on Sharknado and its star. This just looks bad enough for me to sit through. David DeCoteau has a directed low budget Gold with hits like Socrority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl O Rama, Retro Puppet Master, and Leeches to name a few. Watch for this bad boy hitting the streets (Or the five dollar dump bin at wal-mart) February 17th.

Back to Work

Well back to the daily grind. It was a nice little vacation that was more for the girls then me. I do wonder why nobody can take care of my notes and emails while I was gone boy was that an eight hour ordeal.

And now today the first big snow of the season should bring some fun to work tomorrow.

TEX OUTWITS LYNCH MOB!

Ploit:
Tex arrives on the Parker ranch on Christman eve and is given the job of being Santa Claus. Also dressed as Santa Claus, Blackie robs Parker and kills a man. When Tex is arrested for the murder, he escapes and joins up with outlaw Becker and his gang. He finds Blackie's Santa Claus suit but is soon made a prisoner.

Today we finally had a bit of snow, yep the first of the season, and we are not ready to give up on the Christmas Spirit. So after shoveling off the sidewalk and warming up some hot chocolate I was more in the mood for a Christmas special than football. I remember downloading ChristmasTV.com channel on my Roku a little late in the season I know there were a few Christmas shows I still wanted to visit. And being a cowboy that can sit through old westerns I settled for "Down The Wyoming Trail".

Unfortunately this must have been written for the kids no real plot here. Simple little fist of cuffs no real gun battles and of course Christmas songs. I guess I was expecting a little more action. So Santa robs the payroll shoots a man, man goes to the bar says Santa shot him Tex is dressed as Santa and gets arrested. Thank god the sheriff is his buddy and he gets to walk freely at the jail. This way he can escape making a mad dash for it. The sheriff and his posse run him down and shot him. Well maybe not remember this is a kid special after all. Sheriff waves to Tex and both go separate ways.

Tex finds the robber saves the kid sings a Christmas song and all is well. The video that was shown was pretty washed out and choppy. And many times the sound was off. I did like the special even if it was tame. I really shows that Christmas was pretty simple back in the west.

Sorry Tex you only get...

Puppet Master: The Game

Sitting at home on vacation has given me some time to surf that web thing that everybody talks about. So I spend my first hour of the day reading up on things. I was shocked and excited to see that a company called OctoberGames is making Puppet Master Game and so far it looks good. They must have Full Moon's blessing as the music is playing in the background and they use the official logo. I'm not one for 3D POV games as they give me motion sickness but if this ever does see the light of day I will give it a shot.

Dracula enslaves Dr. Irving Jekyll, turning him into the lycanthropic JackalMan, demanding that he lure female blood donors to his L.A. cabin retreat.

After Mike Vraney passed away one year ago today all the message boards and groups I belonged to lite up with high praise for him. Now I have heard of Something Weird Video in fact I own a few DVDs from them. But I never understood the full story until I read issue #4 of Delirium Magazine. The fantastic article opened my eyes to the work and passion that Vraney had to preserve these lost gems.

I'm not one for Nudie Cuties but after reading about SWV I fired up my Roku and headed over to Full Moon Streaming. This was the first one that I came to and it looked silly enough for me to check out.

I must say what a great way to start. How do I explain this movie. It is a straightforward sex horror film full of nude women bound and bitten on the breast's by a bat.

But wait don't run away yet!! The best part of this movie is the laugh a minute dubbed over dialogue that I swear they made it up as they went along. And that is the saving grace of this movie!
