The Mummy Runs Amok On Svengoolie

The Mummy's Curse (1944)

1944 | B&W | 62 Minutes | 1.37:1 | Not Rated | Horror | Mono

Leslie Goodwins

Bernard Schubert
Leon Abrams

Lon Chaney Jr.
Peter Coe
Virginia Christine

An irrigation project in the rural bayous of Louisiana unearths Kharis the living mummy (Lon Chaney Jr.), who was buried in quicksand 25 years earlier.

The Mummy's Curse is the 1944 horror film follow-up to The Mummy's Ghost which was also released in 1944. This film marks Lon Chaney, Jr.'s final appearance as Kharis, the Egyptian mummy. The Universal Mummy series boasts of a parallel-earth kind of timeline. The Mummy's Hand was made and set in 1940; The Mummy's Tomb takes place 30 years later; The Mummy's Ghost 4 years after that, and The Mummy's Curse twenty-five years after "Ghost." That means if the timeline is taken seriously, this film is set in 1999. Although the previous two films in the series take place in New England, with no explanation being given for the change, The Mummy's Curse moves the action to Louisiana.

Dementia 13 Song unearthed!

"I Know that this music is Terrible" said Luana Anders who played Louise Haloran in the cult classic Dementia 13. The song you here at the begining of the movie has been highly sought after for a very long time. But thanks to the power of You Tube the song is finally out there.

The song was preformed by Buddy and the Fads. Never before released about heard on one little transistor radio the song set the tone for Francis Ford Coppola's first movie.

This song should find its way on to a few Halloween mixes later this year. So enjoy "He's Caught" by the 50's group Buddy and the Fab's.

The song it self has a nice rockabilly vibe to it. I'm really grateful that somebody was able to dig this up. I would have to rate this 3 bloody brains!

Star Wars Weekend is Sexy and they know it!

One of the most anticipated events at Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Star Wars Weekends is Hyperspace Hoopla, with its Dance-Off with the Star Wars Stars.

This year was pretty crazy. Good vs Evil. Emperor Palpatine rocking out to Mamma Said Knock You Out. Darth Vader with Boba Fett doing the Smooth Criminal and the best one has to be Chewbacca with Mother daughter duo Princess Leia and her young Padme. They get down to I'm Sexy and I know it.

If you get caught spying by Darth Vader this year he will sentence you to eternal imprisonment in carbonite for a cool $99.00 of course this is Disney after all. This is part of the new "Carbon Freeze Me" experience. In the end you will get a collectible figurine featuring your likeness sculpted into a Han Solo body like the one you see in Empire Strikes Back.

Here are a few photo's and video's floating around the net.

Lets get cozy and comfortable with Grampa Monster

Grampa's Monster Movies (1990)
DVD review

We all love Al Lewis most of us enjoy the Munsters tv show and I love Horror host's! So when I stumbled on to a mix of all three I could not help to be over joyed. Lewis hosts an hour long preview tribute show  to classic horror films featuring  the work of Lon Chaney, Jr., Bela Lugosi, Vincent Price, and Boris Karloff.

With  28 classic trailers like Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolf Man, and the Mummy. Grampa host's these little nuggets from a beach chair (?) in a cemetery. The jokes are corny of course the preview's are before restoration days and the sound well you will have to turn in up.

This is a direct port over from a VHS but it's not 1990 VHS quality. In fact it looks more like a second generation tape recoreded from tv  back in early 80's on a two head VCR.  The Star Wars Christmas special that is floating around the internet almost looks better at times. The host bit's are so washed out its almost hard to watch.

Now this DVD retails around $9.99 but most sites are cleaning this out. I have found it for as little as $2.99. At three buck's I would say do not skip it. This will make for a great party DVD at Halloween time. At 10 bucks rent it once first. If your lucky like me to find it for a quarter well only a fool would skip out on it.

So in the end I wanted to love this DVD but with poor picture and sound it left me feeling a little let down. If you can find this cheep it's worth the grab just for the fact it's Al Lewis and Classic monsters. It will make for a great party DVD in the back round. Despite all that I did enjoy this DVD and I'm giving it 3 bloody brains.

Creature finds the love of his life today on Svengoolie

Revenge Of the Creature (1955)

Director: Jack Arnold

Writers: Martin Berkeley, William Alland (story)

John Agar
Lori Nelson
John Bromfield

Scientists re-discover Creature! Creature discovers lust! The "Creature From The Black Lagoon" is back and this time he's shipped to Marineland in  Florida for study. While in the aquarium he see's the love of his life. Naturally, the creature escapes in pursuit of beauty, down the St. Johns River, all the way to Jacksonville where he kidnaps his love from a downtown waterfront.

1955 | B&W | 82 Minutes | 2.00:1 SUPERSCOPE | Not Rated | Horror | Mono

Did you know you can spot they uncredited Clint Eastwood. Revenge was his first screen appearance.
Watch for him his is a lab assistant whearing a white lab coat and doing a mouse gag in the lab scene with the monkey.

Also Revenge was the hightest grossing of the trilogy. This movie was shot in 3-D the only of the set. And   Stuntman Tom Hennesy almost drowned during filming. Playing the creature, he grabs Helen Dobson (actually stuntwoman Ginger Stanley) on a pier and jumps with her into the water. The scene was shot at night, and when Hennesy and Stanley hit the water, they discovered it was full of jellyfish; in addition, a freak current started to pull them both down. Hennesy let go of Stanley, who swam to the surface, because his Gill-Man costume had become waterlogged and was too heavy for him to fight the current that was pulling them down. He was rescued by two local boys who happened to be watching the filming from a nearby boat, and quickly raced over and pulled him in.

Watch Revenge of the Creature tonight at 9:00 Central on Me Tv. Today at 11:00 am the Creature from the Black Lagoon. And on U-Too Death Race 2000 at 3:00 PM.

Disney Officially Announces AVENGERS Sequel in Development

In what essentially amounts to a formality, Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed that an Avengers sequel is in development, Deadline reports.

Though no further details are yet available, Iger is quoted as saying thatAvengers "is a great illustration of why we like Marvel so much," and that demand for merchandise has been, unsurprisingly, strong.

The Avengers had a record-breaking $207.4 million domestic opening this past weekend, and currently has made more than $700 million in worldwide totals.

In further comic book movie sequel news, Deadline is also reporting that a Kick-Ass 2 is in motion, to be written and directed by Cry Wolf's Jeff Wadlow. Discussions with cast members Aaron Johnson, Chloë Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are said to be "just getting underway."

Free Comic book day and the Avengers

Avengers Assemble! What a great weekend, every May my buddy and I take the 2-hour drive to go see our best friend Steve for lunch and a movie. This year fell on free comic book day so I saw this as an opportunity to introduce my nephews who also live up north to the wonderful world of Comics. So after seeking out what had to be the smallest comic book store ever to grab a few books  it was time for lunch. Now we have for the past few years ate at Hooter's but they closed. So Steve was eager to introduce us to a new place. The underdressed Tilted Kilt! Well, thank god my food looked good wink. I would never stare at girls that pour out of their tops. In all, the food was good the but the service was so slow that we missed our show by 10 minutes!

So being late means waiting or in our case spending the extra money to watch Avengers in 3D. This was my first and most likely my last. I just could not get comfortable in those glasses. Despite how awesome the movie was, I found myself with a pounding headache.

Let's talk about the movie for a few seconds. If your not a comic book movie kind of person I still think you would like this movie. It does a great job telling the story without boring you. My nephews could not wait to get home and watch Iron Man or Captain America. IF you're a fan of the superhero movie, you need to see this on the big screen. Don't wait I don't care how good of a sound system you have or how great your Blu-ray is it is a fun ride to be seen with others.

If you don't walk out of the movie loving the Hulk then something is wrong with you. Of course, the 2nd installment is well under way and for those of you that have seen it and are not sure who the next villain is **Spoiler Alert**
Thanos and I've pretty sure it will follow the Infinity Gauntlet story arc. The Infinity Gauntlet made a guest appearance in the trophy room of the Thor movie.

Anyway, a thank you goes out to John for driving the second half of the trek and to my sister for letting me share the super hero's with her two wonderful sons.

And most of all to Steve! Until August when you and I  head to Flash Back Weekend and Comic Con! Steve has also why I started this blog in the first place.

Witness Unspeakable Acts of Total Depravity!

Check out the Girls and Corpses magazine
The Dead Want Women (2012)
2012 | Color | 74 Minutes | Horror | Rated R | Full Moon Horror
Charles Band

Charles Band
Kent Roudebush

Jessica Morris
Ariana Madix
Eric Roberts

The Roaring Twenties end in a SCREAM when the first talking movie debuts. The world's biggest female silent movie star, Rose Pettigrew, goes on a killing spree when she loses her studio contract, murdering her friends and co-stars - Tubby Fitzgerald, the comedian, Erik Burke, the horror icon and Sonny Barnes (ERIC ROBERTS), the cowboy - before taking her own life.

Rose's mansion has stood empty for decades, but when two realtors Reese (JESSICA MORRIS) and Danni (ARIANA MADIX) finally buy the house to remodel and sell it, they discover that there are more than skeletons in the closets.

Haunted by the ghosts of a time long ago, the girls quickly find that they have been cast in a nightmare that will never end.

Being a fan of Full Moon Horror I hate saying this but this movie was not the studio's best work. And it's a shame on so many levels. This movie is clean looks really good easy to watch. Has the strongest cast I have seen in a Charles Band movie. A good story line. Fantastic make-up effects by Tom Devlin and Rocky Calderon. But the movie still falls short.

I think the blame falls on the movie being to clean really. It's a haunted house that sits empty for 80 years and everything is spotless. And after Rose off's everybody, they turn into a ghost that looks like zombies? And their little "Man Cave" is even clean. Amazing after 80 years no cobwebs. They must not have spiders in Hollywood. Speaking of 80-year-old ghost zombies what is up with the two nude girls they got off easy. After 80 years they still look great and no sagging!! But why did they not turn into zombies??

The two leads in this movie Jessica Morris and Ariana Madix are a true bright spot. They are two cuties that worked very well together. The actor who plays Tubby (J. Scott) was also a bright spot in this movie. I liked his character and he played it spot on. Even Jean Louise O'Sullivan (Alien Inhabitant, Ginger Dead Man 3) who played Rose Pettigrew was easy on the eyes and played her character well.

Let's talk about Eric Roberts for a moment shall we? With a $500,000 dollar budget, he most likely was paid half of that. And he was horrible it felt like he just phoned it in. The dude gets to do a sex scene with a hot full nude girl in front of him and he totally acts like a teenager. I could not stop laughing all I could think is this is what he looks like at home! Oh, it was horrible but It's worth the rental just to see how bad it is.

OK back to the review the pace of this movie is the true killer here. Like I said this is a great cast and they do their job well. Band and his editor, on the other hand, did not want to this movie to run only 60 minutes I think. Cutting those extra 14 minutes from this movie would have made it better. I truly found myself fast forwarding in two different spots. The music also did not help the pace of the movie as well. I understand its the 20's and they went for that feel but it dragged it down.

So, in conclusion, this movie is a dollar at your nearest Red Box so if it is raining and your cable goes out and you have nothing better to do check out Morris and Madixin this movie they are going to be the next true up and comers. And its worth it to see Roberts dry hump in the worst way possible and for Tom Devlin's really good make up.

Its not worth seeing for the set's lack of cob webs and very slow pacing did I mention that there is nudity and hot girl on girl action??

Sorry, Uncle Charles only 2 bloody brains for The Dead Want Women!

And only 2 bloody brains for The Dead Want Women! And One squashy brain for Eric Roberts sex scene

PS Charles what is wrong with a 60 minute movie "The Masters of Horror" pulled it off. Just wondering.
