My Latest Pick Up's

Not much in the way of pickups lately but I had to share the VHS tape that I did pick up! Those of you that stop by from time to time know I love my Full Moon Horror. I have been trying to find anything I could on VHS but due to their popularity they are extremely hard to find here in the sticks.  So when I stumbled onto Puppet Master 4 on VHS my eyes grow large! I could not pick it up fast enough!

The case is a bit of a mess, but the tape looks good and plays just fine. The only other thing is that it is a promotional copy. But I'm  OK with that it's not like I'm going to watch the VHS tape too often the Blu-Ray is coming out soon. Just nice to have it on the shelf.

It was kind of odd to see trailers on here for a family show and a kid show from Paramount pictures long before Charles Band started to distribute once again. And yes I did watch it even with the watermark popping in and out every seven to ten minutes I still enjoyed it. It also has the Video Zone Magazine at the end which I did not have on the DVD copy so the was a treat. Plus at .25 cents you just can not go wrong.

Last, pick up was this cool vintage witch cut out. I just could not pass her up.

Count Down To Halloween 2015

Ok I think I have my theme's for the Count Down To Halloween 2015. This year I have decided to make my blog post's more about family and friends. Sharing a few memories along the way and posting about a few of the things I love about the season. So here we go...

Sunday

The girls and I had fun with this last year and plan on doing it again. Some of the things we plan on doing would be watching a few old VHS specials that we have picked up this year and we may throw in some other goodies as well.

A new and terrible juggernaut of destruction!

Wolf von Frankenstein returns to the Baronial manor from the United States with his wife Elsa and son Peter. He was not welcome by the locals who are still terrified of his father's works and the monster he created. The local Burgomaster gives him a sealed briefcase left by his father and inside, Wolf finds his father's scientific notes. At the manor house, he meets his father's assistant Igor who has a surprise for him: the monster his father created is still alive, though in some sort of coma. Wolf's initial attempts to re-animate the creature seem to fail but when Peter says he saw a giant in the woods, it appears he's met success. When people are mysteriously killed in the village there is little doubt that the monster is responsible.

It's been 20 years and Harry Dunn has found something out - he has a daughter! Lloyd Christmas, his equally dim-witted friend, takes one look at a picture of her, develops a crush, and insists the two track her down. What ensues when Harry finally agrees is a bizarre encounter with an old lady and more hilarity because of their sheer stupidity.

Ok, don't judge me too quickly because the following things I'm going to say will make you click away from my site or make you think I dropped off the deep end. So first off I hate Dumb and Dumber to the point that I do not understand why everybody loves it. But with that being said I really like Dumb and Dumberer When Harry met Lloyd a lot like if it's on TV I will sit and watch it. I don't know to me it's a fun movie. Now the sequel is out so why not give it a shot?

A wealthy woman is terrorized by recurring dreams regarding her jealous, blind husband who supposedly burned to death in a recent fire. She tries to convince her attorney that the nightmares are real.

So is the final big screen film for Barbara Stanwyck before she became a small screen star worth any hype? Hmm, we will have to see....

Barbara Stanwyck

So this movie has three things going for it right out of the gate. My favorite horror host was showing something new to me and it was a William Castle movie! If you are a fan of low budget B movies then you know all about the genius that is Castle already. And third being a fan of westerns on TV I already knew how cool Barbara Stanwyck can be. The plot of the movie is pretty cool her blind husband (Hayden Rorke of I Dream of Jeanine fame) thinks his wife (Stanwyck) is cheating on her right in from of him! When there is a big explosion at the lab her husband is dead but still plaguing her dreams. So  the plot is really good but very week to seasoned movie fans who will figure this plot out within the first act. But that is ok because at some point you will start to doubt your predictions with its many plot twist's and turns. Even with the slow burn that Night Walker is I was right by the end.

Digging the new cover!

DELIRIUM magazine is ready to dive in for a ninth round of wild features, weird editorial, and eerie imagery! In this special jam-packed issue, we’re lighting the torches, igniting the flashpots, and spraying the blood as we welcome the one and only Gene Simmons to our pages – and our cover – to talk about his other passion: HORROR movies...

Here, in this extensive chat, the legendary, controversial KISS bassist and co-founder gives DELIRIUM readers the exclusive juice on his latest venture: the WWE backed, Simmons steered horror film studio Erebus Pictures!

Join DELIRIUM editor Chris Alexander as he sits down with “The Demon” to discuss his love of strange cinema, its influence on "The Hottest Band in the World” and what’s in store for Erebus Pictures (the first film, TEMPLE, is currently in pre-production).

Supporting this cover story interview (that hides behind a lurid Brian Steward cover painting, that echoes Simmons’ classic 1978 solo album art), are a wealth of amazing cult film and perverse pop culture articles; composer and filmmaker John Harrison remembers his underrated omnibus TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: THE MOVIE; DELIRIUM founder Charles Band on his latest projects, the amazing work of UK exploitation movie icon Pete Walker and so much more

You don't want to be on his list.

Ok I know I'm one of those that hates when Christmas creeps in on Halloween but there are many of us that have enjoyed Krampus for many years now and he shows up quite a bit during our Creepmas blog hop. So I just had to share this trailer for the movie coming out December 4th. There have been a few low-end movies on the subject but with Universal getting involved this one looks pretty dang amazing! It comes from Michael Dougherty you know that guy that gave us Trick R Treat! Check out the trailer and let me know your thoughts.

Here is the Story:
When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max (Emjay Anthony) is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers. All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family's home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.

Co-ed beauty captive of man-monster! Campus terror! Students victims of terror-beast!

Professor Donald Blake, a paleontologist at Dunsfield University, finally receives a rare fish, a coelacanth, from Madagascar. This species has remained unchanged for a million years and is in effect a living fossil. The animal arrives frozen but after accidentally cutting himself on the creature's sharp teeth, Blake puts his hand in the melted ice water. Later, Molly Riordan is found dead in Blake's backyard. The police initially suspect Blake, but fingerprints suggest that there was a third person at Blake's house. Blake's contact with the fish transforms him into a hideous creature, a prehistoric man - and soon dead bodies are appearing on campus.

Monsters kicks off Back to School month with yet another gem I have never seen. Monster on The Campus looks like great Drive-In movie fun looking forward to this one. I did catch up on The Thing that Couldn't Die I wrote up my review here.

Plot:
A psychically gifted young woman discovers a centuries-old crate buried on her aunt's ranch. Opening it, her family discovers the living head of Gideon Drew, a 16th-century devil worshiper who was beheaded by Sir Francis Drake.

Ah yes, a movie that people seem to love or hate! Me I was drawn in by young Jessica and her strange power to find water with a stick. And jewelry and unwanted body parts. Sure the acting was not the best and the only cool score for this movie was taken from The Creature from The Black Lagoon but I found it very entertaining. In fact, it was a story that was pretty new for me in many ways.

Oh my Darling Oh My Darling Oh My Darling Clementine

Not sure how I stumble on to this little gem but I sure loved Huckleberry Hound when I was a kid. And of course, the collection before me has the classic's Postman Panic and Barbeque hound. What a treat to sit back and watch this on VHS. The tape has held up great no drop outs or tracking issues to be had. I do beleave a few of these have made their way to DVD. The other two episodes are Hokum Smokum you know the one with the little Indian. Still made me laugh watching!

Put out in 1987 from Kids Klassics and WorldVision has a run time of 28 minutes.

Now if I can find the one with Jekyll and Hyde I will be a happy camper.

This tape as a value of $17.93 right now so rock on!

Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize!

Not much in the way of pickups this week but with Halloween approaching fast you can sure bet on some cool post's in the future. In fact, I only stopped at one thrift shop last week just to take a quick peek and found a few cool things.

So I picked up King Kong Vs Godzilla for the collection. It's such a classic and for me one of the best Godzilla movies around. Only paid a dollar and its value is a shocking $5.55. Next up a cute looking Halloween Special Lumpkin the Pumpkin. Looks like a cute little Halloween show that only runs 25 minutes. The plot seems to be a Halloween Contest is on among the spooky witches and Jack-O-Lanterns to see who can frighten the children the most. But Tara the Good Witch (of course there has to be a good witch) and Lumpkin don't want to be scary or play tricks. They show the girls and boys how to stay safe too. Looks like it was published in 1991 and has never made it to DVD. I paid 20 cents for this and the value on it is not too bad for a rare kid show at $4.76.

Next up was a Grim Grinning Ghosts that sings that line from the song. I was pretty excited about this I have never seen them before. So I had to do some digging many to see what I was missing and had to hunt for. Good news, I have found the only one in the set *phew*. This was from the Eddie Murphy flop Haunted Mansion. The rest of the Happy Meal Toys are really not needed thankfully. Here is a picture of the rest of them.

So I think I'm good no real need to find the others. This beauty is already in the cave on the TV stand. Yeah, I will put him away for Halloween and only plan on bringing him out once every year. So that's it for this week let the Halloween hunting begin!

Will It Dare You To Dream of Things You're Ashamed to Admit!

Monsters, Maidens and Mad Puppets.
Roger Corman, the King of cult cinema.
Charlie Band, the Prince of the B-movie.
Join veteran genre filmmakers Roger Corman and Charles Band as they take you through their long and storied careers working on such films as Eat My Dust, Puppetmaster, Sharktopus, Re-Animator, and many more. This truly unique look at exploitation cinema from the perspective two of its top contributors is a must-see for anyone looking to go a little deeper into the movies they love.

Two mavericks of independent genre film-making sit down for an intimate discussion about their amazing and diverse bodies of work, their fans, the hundreds of legendary performers and artists whose talents they've nurtured and the future of the industry they've both dedicated their lives to. From SHARKTOPUS, to PUPPETMASTER, to RE-ANIMATOR to DEATH RACE 2000 to GINGERDEAD MAN to HOUSE OF USHER and beyond; this is the ultimate master-class in making strange cinema that matters!

There is really not much to say here other then if you are a big fan of these guys you are bound to be slightly disappointed. You do not really get too much new or will learn anything you probably did not know already but never the less its still a good visit.

I did enjoy them talking about the '80s and the VHS boom and how life for both of them was at an all time high. And how the crash has affected them greatly I found that interesting.

I was wishing for more insight and maybe a few clips of some of their movies. All this was, was a 52-minute interview.  Was not what I was expecting from two giants in the industry.

Never the less it's an easy watch and you just might take away something you may not have known.

The passenger, his manservant and the pilot take refuge in a mansion owned by a doctor. The easily-spooked manservant soon becomes convinced the mansion is haunted by zombies and ghosts. Exploring, the 3 find a voodoo ritual in the cellar, where the doctor is trying to acquire war intelligence by transferring personalities into his zombies. But the interruption causes the zombies to turn on their creator.

The other day I was flipping through my Roku channels just looking to see what I could delete. You know the channels that seem to take up space for no reason at all. Well, I was browsing Screamzine to see if it was worth keeping due to the fact I hardly find anything on it to watch. Just before hitting the star key I see The Mummy and the Monkey season 1. Now, what is odd about that +Janet Jay and +Grimm Decay popped up a day prior on Google+ as somebody I should know. So this is rather weird, moving my finger away from the star key I pressed play instead!
