A "Ghoulies" comic book is found in a frat house bathroom. The comic secretly holds powers over three lost Ghoulies that are imprisoned within its pages. They are soon released by Professor Ragnar who uses them in an attempt to stop 'Prank Week' where frats play tricks on each other for a tinfoil crown. Skip Carter and his frat house of party animals are destined to take back the crown, but he is having problems with his girlfriend who is dating his arch rival, Jeremy. When Jeremy frames Skip, resulting in his expulsion, the Ghoulies are sent to kill Skip and any other frats that stand in their way.

I probably should have done this review on Free Comic Book day. You Ghoulies 3 takes you as far from the first two as humanly possible to give you a more kid friendly rated R movie. Yes, kid friendly like if it was not at a college and we had tons of sex and boob's this movie would play out on the Disney channel.

The question then becomes is this movie worth it then? Well, if you like Animal House and low budget gore then yes it is. It was odd that the portal or direct link to the creatures was a comic book and a toilet. The crapper I get we all know the story that Charles Band needed an angle for his poster to sell the movie and he came up with the Ghoulie popping out of the toilet with the catch phrase "They will get you in the end". But did this movie need to overuse that, I'm going with no?

Now it happens to be the prank week at school and two fraternities are duking it out for the title. Of course that leads to a lot of good things with silly pranks frat parties and well, sex. But one teacher (Kevin McCarthy) is bent on ending the whole deal once and for all. When the comic book finds its way into his hands he, of course, reads it out loud and that's when the crap get's rolling. He then uses's the Ghoulies to kill kill kill.

Ghoulies 3
Poor Kane Hodder
The Ghoulies themselves though only want to party, party, party. They cause their fair share of mischief while drinking it up. Not to mention checking out the hot girls in the shower. In fact at one point they have all this dirty clothes fall on them giving them a college style to flaunt while they are on the prowl. Also, this time around the boys talk, and the one-liners are fantastic. But at times very inaudible leaving you to guess "Did I just hear that". The Ghoulies for once are the best part of this movie and the fact that we get to hang out with them is a fun trip.

Eva LaRue
The Very Beautiful Eva LaRue
The young cast is very easy to watch and really work well together. You can tell they were doing their best to channel in the frat brothers of the Delta House and at times pull it off well. We even get a young Mathew Lillard in his first major motion picture. Although he does not get any speaking lines and he is on the edge of the frame most of the time. The version I watch was a full-screen version so he was cut off quite a bit.

tongue ties
tongue tied.

Now this is a horror movie after all so how cool are the death scenes? Let me tell you, at the top of this article I told you this was pretty close to a kids film well the death scenes are pretty tame. We do not get any blood and as you can see from the picture above its simple joke deaths sprinkled throughout the movie. Not a bad thing considering this is a comedy horror. I would let my girls watch this movie if it was not for the sex and nudity. That's how tame it really is but effective when it needs to be.

The location for this movie was on par it feels like a little college with really dark and dirty frat houses. Nothing mind blowing like I said most of this takes place in the house or an office. The main house that we spend a few minutes in as an odd dark vibe that does not look so good. I'm not sure, but maybe it was meant that way.

To finally closes the story, we get treated to some nice puppet effects but again no real blood here. And last but not least the soundtrack. This flick gets extra credit for its pre-Nirvana sound. Filled with glories cheese driven hair pop party hard music. Well, party hard like its 1990 anyway. The music fits the part in Ghoulies Go to College nicely leaving me to want to track down this master peace on cassette tape!

Ghoulies back to school
In The End!
So should Ghoulies 3 sit and collect dust in your DVD collection? If your a fan of the first 2 this is nothing like them AT ALL! But if your a fan of college humor with pretty fair acting and a believable plot then hell yeah pick this bad boy up! And if it's already on your shelf and you have not watched it put it on the list man its a pretty good party movie!

It got me in the end...
