It's May Monster Madness time! And this year theme Insects. And when you live in a house of girls you know all about the blood curly screams they can induce. I have plenty of bug films in my collection that I could have easily picked for this but one day when I was out Movie Hunting I ran across this VHS. It looked fun and cheesy but after the Randy Quaid debacle from the Frankenstein movie that I watch I put it back down. Yet I could not get it out of my mind and  despite having a reputation as being a poorly made film, that has nonetheless achieved a small B movie cult status. So back to the Salvation Army a week later to see if it was still available. Thankfully with 50 cents in my pocket I walked out with hopes of finding one of those hidden gems. Did I strike it rich...

Back in London, the benefits of the meteorite's controlled radiation offer Dr. Benet an opportunity to restore eyesight to the blind. The Stroke

Chip Znuff and I

Have not done this in a while but I found Enuff Z'nuff's new video from the new album Covered in Gold. The Album is great as they cover some classics from the 80's to the 90's. Quite a few of these tracks are from compilation albums so it was nice to have them all in one place.

Some of the great songs on the album,
Stone Cold Crazy
Believe it or Not
When Doves Cry
Yankee Rose
Jealous Guy

So check out The Stroke then check out the music on iTunes

Zombie's just want to have fun

I used a different free editor for this one. WeVideo, I am kind of annoyed by the watermark, but I really liked how smooth the program worked. This is the video for the Zombie Pin Ups. This is always a fun little show at Flashback Weekend. Make sure to give the video a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel.

Through a series of macabre "coincidences," the newly-elected director of a cemetery (Richard Boone) begins to believe that he can cause the deaths of living owners of burial plots by merely changing the push-pin color from white (living) to black (dead) on a large wall map of the cemetery that notes those plots.

So how many movies will you watch in a lifetime that the monster is a push pin and a cemetery map? My guess would have to be only one! And it is so worth your time to track it down. The movie is pretty easy to find it fell into Public Doman and I have it on a few of those cheap DVD sets with 15 movies on them. The good news for my copy, it looked great they did not try to squeeze it done to pixeled goo.

Wait what?!?

What rock was I under? Not 100% behind this but I did laugh out loud at a few spots. We will see.

Beach Party Blogathon!

So I decided to jump feet first into the water's of the Beach Party Blogathon. The blog hop starts June 8 through June 12. The movie I have picked to talk about so far is Cabin Fever: Patient Zero.

A group of friends think they're going to the perfect spot for a bachelor party; a secluded private island. They quickly learn the island is not as private as they thought. The island is home to a lab thought to be empty, but in actuality a deadly, extremely fast acting, flesh eating virus has just escaped containment. Now everyone on the island has to fight not only to survive the outbreak, but also to survive each other.

If you would like to join in on the fun swim on over to Beach Party Blogathon!

Two police detectives try to catch a serial killer who is stalking a rural California drive-in theater, randomly killing people with a sword.

Boy did I think I was in trouble seconds after popping this bad boy into the DVD player. Half the screen was dark and the other half was fading in and out. Thankfully it corrects itself shortly thereafter but the film still looks like a direct port from a 16mm reel to reel. In a way, the grim and grit fit into the movies atmosphere but still not easy to watch. In fact, just a little color correction would have helped tremendously. So why is this a cult classic?

The Ultimate Alien Weapon Is Back

Back in 1986 Charles Band was set to produce the sequel called Laserblast 2. The movie was even planned for a theatrical release as production was to start in August of that year. However, Bands production company Wizard Entertainment fell into financial difficulties shortly after the production of Laserblast 2 and the project ended up being scrapped. Elements of the abandoned sequel were later used in the 1988 Empire entertainment film Deadly Weapon. Weapon, like Laserblast, was about a bullied teenager who finds a powerful weapon and uses it to seek revenge.

Well maybe someday this will see the light of day until then I will drool over these.

Director: John Carl Buechler

A "Ghoulies" comic book is found in a frat house bathroom. The comic secretly holds powers over three lost Ghoulies that are imprisoned within its pages. They are soon released by Professor Ragnar who uses them in an attempt to stop 'Prank Week' where frats play tricks on each other for a tinfoil crown. Skip Carter and his frat house of party animals are destined to take back the crown, but he is having problems with his girlfriend who is dating his arch rival, Jeremy. When Jeremy frames Skip, resulting in his expulsion, the Ghoulies are sent to kill Skip and any other frats that stand in their way.

I probably should have done this review on Free Comic Book day. You Ghoulies 3 takes you as far from the first two as humanly possible to give you a more kid friendly rated R movie. Yes, kid friendly like if it was not at a college and we had tons of sex and boob's this movie would play out on the Disney channel.

They're busting out!

Welcome to Babe Jail, where the best shower a girl can get is from the warden's house, and interrogation always ends in intercourse! This outlandish compilation of trailers and clips spotlights the women-in-prison sub-genre of grindhouse exploitation films, which were most popular in the 70's and 80's. Hosted by the illegally-sexy "Roxie" and her demented ogre-of-a-cellmate, "Lavondra," you've been sentenced to watch the best of the most degrading, perverse, and sadistically sexist filth ever sent to the slammer. The prison bars may be cold, but the babes are hot!

Not too much to say about Charles Band's documentary Babes Behind Bars. This flick pays tribute to the genre of grindhouse movies that featured women in prison. The film collects a number of trailers and outrageous clips from various B-grade exploitation flicks. Mindy is your host and all she really does talk dirty to the camera, it's kind of a snooze fest unless you like these trailer type of movies. Sometimes they are fun and at only 73 minutes I would say it is only 13 minutes too long.

I'm all about going into a movie with a clear mind not knowing anything about it. Seem's more of a challenge that way.

Dr. Victor Frankenstein creates his creature, who escapes into the countryside to find that humanity has only pain and sorrow for him. But a psychic link between created and creator draws the two ever nearer until their paths must inevitably cross again...

Man this is bad make-up
So just like the good old days of going to the video store and finding what looks like a cool little horror flick. When I picked up this Frankenstein I had no clue what it was. But the cover art was cool and the Frankenstones cartoon intrigued me. I should have read the Randy Quaid as the monster part before parting ways with my quarter to the thrift store cash register.

First things first. When you pop this bad boy in you are treated with a good 10-minute cartoon starring the lovable Flintstones and there very familiar looking neighbours the Frankenstones.

Both are dad's coaching a baseball team. Both teams make the playoffs and have to play each other. That's when the mayhem gets going. The cartoon was worth the .25 cents so not all is lost on this movie.

First this movie was part of TNT's Monster Vision that ran in the early 90's and was hosted by Penn and Teller. So it's no wonder that I have never heard of this. Who the hell would think of Penn and Teller as Horror Host!?
