After 58 years of Popeye and Bluto fighting over Olive Oyl, they've all decided to finally settle down and start families. Popeye and Olive got married and had a son who hates spinach. Ah, those wonderful Saturday Morning Cartoons of the 80's when animation studios would make a cartoon about anything. You know like Mork & Mindy and Laverne and Shirley, for goodness sake. And they also made shows about established characters suddenly with children, or sometimes as children, such as Muppet Babies and The Flintstone Kids. Now, all of those surely have at least someone who thinks of them fondly. I mean even I like the Police Acadamy cartoon but for some reason, no one loves Popeye and Son. Why? Because it took away Popeye's most defining characteristic -  violence. Just imagine if somebody remade Tom and Gerry to be all buddy-buddy, it would be so wrong. Neither Popeye nor Bluto, not even the kids take a shot at one another instead we get a feel-good story.

The animation style would be your typical 80's fashion for the time. We get big hair, skateboards, and strange creatures. Unlike the Popeye I grew up with this one was more about the moral of the story. For example, this episode is a story about not passing judgment just because people are different. Oddly enough Popeye's son Jr. along with Bluto's son Tank never really scuffle sadly Tank is more of a bully this time around.

So when the new kid shows up Tank's gang does nothing but pick on him as to where Jr and his gang are just not sure what to think. Shortly after school, the new kid has invited everybody over for a Birthday Party.

As usual, the kids are too scared to go and typical cartoon parents, of course, tell them they have to go! And thankfully we get to meet his wonderful Family.

Dad

Mom

And OF Course Uncle Frank!

Such a cute family.

Of course, the villagers come crashing in to chase the strange looking family away. Sounds familiar doesn't? Leave it to Bluto and his evil bullying ways to accidentally set the house on fire!

With the families trapped it is up to Jr. to save the day.

Did I mention that Jr., unlike his dad, does not like Spinach? So every time he eats his power up he proclaims loudly "Yuck", I think the only reason I ate spinach was from mom saying but Popeye loves it and he grows big and strong Jr your not much of a role model!

Thank god there was a water tower next to the creepy old house!

I think you know where the rest of this story is going. As for the show you know it was fun to revisit something that has faded from memory. Is it really Popeye The Sailor Man well no but that is ok this show works.

Sadly the show only lasted one season with most episodes on YouTube all thou I was able to check out the whole season on Amazon Prime. If your a fan of Popeye and do not remember this show or in fact have never seen it before give it a go.

Halloween Streams!!

Oh, how I love to watch free movie's on my Roku, and thanks to Vudu and their free movie selection there is something for everyone to get into the Autumn spirit.

First up and this was a complete shock to me

That right the Sam Rami flick that started it all for me in the early days of VHS is streaming with adds for those of you that have not seen this gem yet! The story goes a little something like this, In 1979, a group of college students who, during a weekend getaway, find a Sumerian Book of the Dead in an old wilderness cabin they've rented. When they unwittingly unleash evil spirits and demons while reading incantations from the book, that's when the real havoc begins. As each of the kids, one by one, are possessed by the demons they've let loose, body parts and bodily fluids go a-flying until only one young man is left to face down THE EVIL DEAD.

Next up Harry Potter sort of...

Now I have not seen this yet but it has crept closer to the top of my long list of must-see movies.
Blamed for the murder of his girlfriend, Ignatius Perrish (Daniel Radcliffe) awakens one morning to find he's grown a pair of horns. Armed with new supernatural powers, he sets out to find the true killer.

YouTube Killed the Video Star...

YouTuber Fred is back in this Halloween Special for Nickelodeon. So gather the family pop the corn and well prepare to be annoyed. Fred Figglehorn (Lucas Cruikshank), is back in an all-new movie adventure, and his life has gone from kooky to spooky. Fred's beloved music teacher, Mrs. Felson, has mysteriously disappeared, and Fred is convinced that her replacement, Mr. Devlin, has a secret life - as a vampire! And to make matters worse, Mr. Devlin is dating Fred's mom! Look its not Ernest Scared Stupid but it will do.

Ok, I seriously have not clue what this is, do you? If so let us know if it is worth diving into.
This film may take place on Halloween, but it has nothing to do with horror movies and everything to do with that moment everyone has when they realize life marches forward and they're the youngest they'll ever be. This isn't an indie drama about a boy becoming a man, it's a comedy about Tony Phillips, a guy who doesn't think childhood passions should have an expiration date. I really might check this one out soon.

I don't know about you but I'm ready for the cooler weather rustling of the leaves and of course movies and tv specials about our favorite holiday.

If I Leave Here Tomorrow

If I Leave Here Tomorrow: A Film About Lynyrd Skynyrd
2018 | Color | 1 Hr 35 Min | Documentary | TV-14 | Passion Pictures

Director: Stephen Kijak

Writer: Stephen Kijak

Stars:
Ronnie Van Zant
Gary Rossington
Johnny Van Zant

Summary:
This authorized documentary will explore the music and backstory of the legendary American band. With the songs from the first six Skynyrd albums driving the narration, the film focuses on the story of frontman Ronnie Van Zant - his upbringing, his roots, his work ethic and his contradictory persona as both as a mythic Southern rock poet and notorious boozed-up brawler, as well as the relationships between his friends and fellow founding members Gary Rossington and Allen Collins, along with later bandmates Ed King and Artimus Pyle.

Come on we all yell "Free Bird" at concerts everywhere we go admit it! Well, thanks to Stephen Kijak's hard-hitting journey with southern rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd a truly kick-ass story unfolds in front of you. I promise this rockumentary will teach you something about the bad and how crazy they were. The movie does not claim to be the exhaustive history of the Southern rock band and thankfully steers clear of the new incarnation of the band (Sorry Johnny VanZant) we see touring today. Guitarist Gary Rossington the sole original member of the current Skynyrd incarnation opens up like never before on the persona of singer Ronnie Van Zant, the band’s hard beginnings and the fatal 1977 plane crash.

1% was the band's original name.

From how the band met through the years, how the songs came about and all the way to how they got their name, your in for a special treat. For example, Leonard Skinner was a coach at Rossington’s high school, whose name elicited delight within drummer Bob Burns. Burns tells us how he suggested the moniker to the group after hearing a variant of it in the lyrics to the 1963 novelty hit “Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh.” The group also used the name as shorthand to describe unexplained noises: “Oh, that’s Lynyrd Skynyrd!” says Burns had its name.

Some of the craziest stories easily come out of rehearsals at the “Hell House,” a cabin on a creek in the swamps of Florida, the band would forage hallucinogenic mushrooms from a nearby pasture.
Rossington says they’d find psilocybin mushrooms growing in the “cow patties” and make a pot of mushroom tea. “You take a few sips and you be tripping. The keyboard would be floating or I’d watch the notes coming out of my amp,” he says. But mushrooms weren’t the only drug of choice for Skynyrd. Rossington says everyone took speed and Allen Collins was apparently fond of sniffing glue. “You could put a model airplane together with his breath,” says early bassist Larry Junstrom that's Insane! Also never knew how hard these guys partied destroying hotel rooms to the point that their manager had to carry a suitcase of cash with them everywhere.

The story comes to a sad close has surviving bandmates revisit in there minds that fatal plane crash. You can still see the pain and fear in there eyes as they go back in time. Dewain Easley, one of two crash historians interviewed talks about when he propped open the fuselage with a stick to peer inside. “I shined my flashlight up in there and my first thought was, ‘What’s a bunch of hippies doing on an airplane?’ Back in those days, hippies didn’t usually have any money.” Easley says playing cards were scattered everywhere and passengers – 26 in total were onboard – were moaning. “We were just farm boys, and didn’t know what we were doing – we just got ’em out.”

“The one thing I want the world to know about my band is how bravely my band met their death … There was no panic, no chaos. Everyone was in prayer and deep thought,” says Artimus Pyle, who recalls the last time he saw Ronnie Van Zant. “Ronnie stopped by me in the aisle, we shook the old hippie handshake and he smiled and walked to the back of the plane.” This Documentary is fantastic from opening to close and could have gone on a little longer as I was invested in a story that needed to be told! I was only seven with the band's fatal day struck but as I grew into my teens I learned about the music rather quickly and have been a fan since. If I Leave Here Tomorrow is well worth your time!

Warning Proud Dad moment

I know I know it is only one game but this dad watched hard work really pay off last night. The TCA Saints kicked off there 2018 season last night winning big in there first game 16-8. And to watch my daughter who was not feeling 100% rack up the minutes blocked shots, had clean passes, and scored on her first shot of the year! Her determination sense last year has really paid off she practiced all spring and summer long from shooting hoops in the driveway to a few summer camps her hard work really paid off.

The simple fact that she was proud to be named a started showed and her leadership is strong these girls are going to be tough to beat. A few of them including Lainey started playing last year as 4th graders on the 5th-grade team and now they are the 5th graders and they are ready to rock. So anyway to embarrass her more here is that shot! Good luck my Lainey Lou I'm sure this is the first of many this year!

Nice shot #51
