The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley
2014 | Color | 97 Minutes | 1.66:1 | NA | Documentary | Dolby | Severin Films
Source: Netflix Streaming
Director: David Gregory
Plot:Behind the scenes chronicle of how a clash of vision, bad creative decisions, lack of interest and really bad weather plagued the disastrous production of the infamous 1996 remake of The Island of Dr. Moreau.
Not a bad little doc about a crazy director wanting to make his vision of the Island of Dr. Moreau have it taken away from him right before the shoot. This movie really hits on the greed of big names and how they can rune everything. Richard Stanley has given us so cult gems with Dust Devil and Hardware and his vision for this movie would have been great.
The movie looks great and fills in the cracks of a doomed movie, but it still drags on at times. Most of the time after watching a documentary about a movie I'm willing to revisit the flick. After this tho I still did not care to watch Dr. Moreau.
