The archvillains of The United Underworld - The Catwoman, The Joker, The Riddler and The Penguin - combine forces to dispose of Batman and Robin as they launch their fantastic plot to control the entire world. From his submarine, Penguin and his cohorts hijack a yacht containing a superdehydrator, which can extract all moisture from humans and reduce them to particles of dust. The evildoers turn the 9 Security Council members in the United World Building into 9 vials of multicolored crystals! Batman and Robin track the villains in their Batboat and use Batcharge missles to force the sub to surface.
Released October 26,1966 to the big screen. Originally set to be the pilot for the tv show and produced between the first two seasons. Thanks to its larger then normal budget the producers where aloud to have a number of new Bat-Gadgets such as the Bat Boat and Bat-Copter
In the final fight scene, a stuntman playing one of the villains' henchmen dove into the water and hit his head on a metal stud at the bottom of the pond. He was knocked unconscious and had to be rushed to the hospital.
As of 2010, this is the only live-action feature-length Batman film in which Alfred is not played by an actor named Michael. Michael Gough played the part in Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin. Michael Caine took over for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
This movie is full of things to watch for I'm sure Sven will point a few of them out but here are a few I'll point out.
When sliding down the batpole at the boat dock, Robin's utility belt disappears.
In the opening credits there is a flipped shot of Robin where the "R" on his costume is backwards.
When the Bat-Copter flies over the roof with the girls in bikinis waving, the shadow is from a Bell Ranger helicopter (the camera aircraft) rather than the Bell 47G that the Bat-Copter is made from.
Wrinkles on the sky backdrop are visible when Robin and Batman arrive at the buoy.
If you have never watched Svengoolie this is a great movie to introduce you to the man. Sure its not a horror movie but it truly fits the show and I'm sure that tonight will be a great time!
This post it part of the Count Down To Halloween 2012. Day 13.
