An Egyptian high priest travels to America to reclaim the bodies of ancient Egyptian princess Ananka and her living guardian mummy Kharis. Learning that Ananka^Òs spirit has been reincarnated into another body, he kidnaps a young woman of Egyptian descent with a mysterious resemblance to the princess. The mummy's ghost is part of "Wrapping Up 2014" theme on Svengoolie. I could not think of a better way to enjoy Creepmas this Saturday Night. Did you know when the Scripps Museum security guard comes into the room to confront Yourself Bey, you can see the shadow of the boom mic on the glass door behind him. Or that most of the Egyptians are played by actors who don't look the slightest bit Egyptian.

For many years while working at Suncost Video one of the most sought after DVDs around the holidays was Convoy. The fact was at that time it was not available on anything. Cheesy Flicks eventually put out a DVD-5 that was pressed from the laser disc and sold like crazy. When that went out of print people still looked for it. Not sure why nobody ever picked it up a second time. And I really don't know why it was a big tile in my store.

Well Kino Lorber has revealed their plans to release Sam Peckinpah's 1978 classic big rigs flick Convoy April of 2015. I will be interesting to see what they use for source material as Kino does a great job with their restorations.

Synopsis: Sam Peckinpah's classic road-movie based around the hit song by C.W. McCall. Long-distance trucker Rubber Duck (Kristofferson) is on the run from corrupt sheriff Lyle Wallace (Borgnine). He makes a call on his CB radio asking for assistance from other truckers, many of whom have also fallen foul of Wallace in the past. What follows is a massive truckers' convoy, plenty of CB banter, and a whole lot of smashed-up police cars.

Boyd Mitchler and his family must spend Christmas with his estranged family of misfits. Upon realizing that he left all his son's gifts at home, he hits the road with his dad in an attempt to make the 8-hour round trip before sunrise. Just to keep the magic of Christmas alive and well for his younger son.

So many will blind buy or rent this movie at Redbox this holiday season to watch Robin Williams. And why not he plays the drunk hard ass dad role very well. But this movie is not sure what it wants to be and that's too bad.

The opening sets the tone with Joel McHale as a little boy having his Christmas ruined by his father. Jump to now as an adult you can tell he wants to keep the Christmas spirit alive and well with his younger son. After getting the call from his brother that the family needs to spend Christmas together the movie starts to fall apart.

A Merry Friggin' Christmas is a real hit-and-miss experience that, unfortunately, offers more of the former and less of the latter. The film lacks tight cohesion despite a fairly straightforward narrative drive. Despite some good verbal sparring between Actors Robin Williams and Joel McHale, the movie generally feels structurally inept and lacking in dramatic value.

Otherwise, the movie is a bummer of a holiday, road trip, and dysfunctional family movie cliché that never finds its footing and certainly doesn't leave much more than a lump of coal for audiences who give it a spin.

The movie has no replay value like most Christmas movies that we watch over and over again. Once you see you may never watch it again. With high hopes thanks to a great trailer I only can give this movie...

Jack Deth is a trooper in Angel City, circa 2247, mopping up the last of the disciples of the Martin Whistler. Whistler uses his psychic power to 'trance' those with weak minds and force them to obey his every desire. Whistler had been thought to be dead by now, but he's alive and well, and in the year 1985. Whistler's plan - to hunt down the ancestors of the City Council. With the Council disbanded, nothing is to stop Whistler from controlling the city. That's where Jack Deth fits in. Jack is sent back in time by inhabiting the body of his ancestor. The only problem is that Whistler's ancestor is a police detective, and he's begun trancing people back in 1985. With the help of Lena, a strong-minded punk rock girl, he must find and protect Hap Ashby, a former baseball pitcher now living on Skid Row, and face Whistler in a final confrontation.

It's hard to believe that this movie is 30 years old. And still stands strong today. And what many forget is that it takes place during Christmas. In fact one of the best scenes in Helen Hunt getting ready for work helping a mall Santa. Which in return leads to a great battlesequence at center court of the mall. This movie was so far ahead of its time I amazed that it has not been remade yet to date.

The movie has been released on VHS, DVD, Fullmoon Streaming, and now available on Blu-Ray. With a strong cast and great visuals Trancers will put a little Ho Ho Ho in your Sci-Fi Christmas. No need for the Hallmark Channel when you have Jack Death!

For me Trancers gets...

All though it's not Creepmas the poster art says otherwise. The movie comes out December 20 just in time for Christmas.
