The world of freight handlers Wilbur Grey and Chick Young is turned upside down when the remains of Frankenstein's monster and Dracula arrive from Europe to be used in a house of horrors. Dracula awakens and escapes with the weakened monster, who he plans to re-energize with a new brain. Larry Talbot (the Wolfman) arrives from London in an attempt to thwart Dracula. Dracula's reluctant aide is the beautiful Dr. Sandra Mornay. Her reluctance is dispatched by Dracula's bite. Dracula and Sandra abduct Wilbur for his brain and recharge the monster in preparation for the operation. Chick and Talbot attempt to find and free Wilbur, but when the full moon rises all hell breaks loose with the Wolfman, Dracula, and Frankenstein all running rampant.

As Halloween approaches, the bears of Bearbank begin to fear an invasion of monsters from nearby Monster Mountain. As most of the bears prepare to leave the city, one brave little bear, Ted E. Bear, sets out to confront fear!

When it comes to Thrift store sales like 10 VHS of a buck and two of those tapes you spot our odd Halloween specials that are long forgotten you just have to take the leap, right?

Sue Raney does not sing but her voice is perfect for the part of Patti Bear.

Most of us remember Ted E. Bear from his early seventies Christmas special The Bear That Slept Through Christmas. In fact, I loved the special and watched it all the time. As for Bear Scare well somehow this one escaped me. So time to pop some kettle corn grab the remote and fire up the glorious VCR.

Ok, wait for a second what is going on here? The animation it... it is like watching an old film strip movie back from grade school. I'm not sure I understand but there is no fluid movement at all! This is so hard to watch grrr I will give it a minute. So the story goes the Monsters of Scare Mountain are about to invade the city. Somehow our Hero Ted is nominated to go up the mountain to see what he could see (ok stop singing that camp song).

He runs into Drac who has to walk home because he can not turn into a bat (The Bat jokes are on point and a true highlight here.) They talk and become friends but Drac is still off to take over the world. Lets back up to the animation ten minutes in and nothing has changed but the story is really good so far so you kind of forgive and forget moving on with the story.

This Is Thriller, Thriller night.

We are treated to some really clever puns throughout the monster city like Monster Burger and Madison Scare Garden's where everybody is set to meet. Here comes some fun monster shindig with dancing witches and monsters galore the set off to invade the city. Thankfully Ted is there to tell us that monsters are only in our heads nobody gets scared Drac is defeated and the town moves on. Phew.

So again the rough animation takes some time to get used too but the story is rather cute and helps you forget about all the other stuff. My biggest gripe is small look at the cover you see all the heavy hitters Fran and Wolf-man hanging out with Drac spoiler alert they are not in it at all!! I was so mad, I did love the witch and she has a pretty good roll but no Frank come on people! In the end, Ted E. Bear and his friends give us a nice little treat for Halloween, unlike his Christmas special I can not see me revisiting this one too soon.

The Flintstones and Rubbles win a trip on "Make a Deal or Don't" to Count Rockula's castle in Rocksylvania where they have an unpleasant meeting with the Count and his servant Frankenstone.

At almost 40 years old this classic still holds up The Flintstones Meet Rockula debuted on October 30th, 1979 and even tho I was only 9 years old I remember it well.

So sit back and relax its Yabba Dabba Doo Time!

Wow, something that I have not seen this week on Svengoolie so I'm looking forward to this! Also, did you know In order to get the wolf to snarl and gnash its teeth for the camera, a clearly visible rubber band was placed around its upper jaw and snout? It is most easily seen in the footage running behind the opening credits.

Just like Trick or Treat this movie comes with great hype and just like Trick or Treat finds its self-falling short in my book. Yeah, sorry fans Tales of Halloween was just so-so for me. Don't get me wrong I like a few of the shorts like Sweet Tooth, Ding Ding, and the best one Friday the 31st.

It was very cool how all the stories tie themselves together in the end and the look and feel defiantly set the Halloween tone. Where it falls short for me is too many hands in the candy bowl. We get so many different styles weaving in and out you kind of lose focus on the story.

Before you send the hate mail this is still worth watching during the scaring season and maybe I need to give it a second chance do to watching this in August. And the saving grace or the part that really helped move the story was "The night of the living dead" that can be seen as a timeline running through the film this was pure genius.

Pumpkin Spice Rolls

As I have stated before I feel the Pumpkin Spice game is getting out of hand. But where this guy will indulge is baked goods. I really love the Leggo Pumpkin Spice waffles could eat all day Pumpkin spice pancakes so when I was perusing the shelves at the grocery store the other day I stumbled on to Pillsbury Pumpkin Spice rolls, hmm sure why not.

Sadly I should have turned away. At $3.49 for 5, these come up way short on flavor, texture, and Pumpkin. No, really they had a very little flavor to the point that we all thought it had a hint of Rootbeer of the fall classic it was supposed to taste like. Pillsbury Grand Pumpkin Spice is a definite skip!
