Once this motion picture sinks its fangs into you, you'll never be the same.

"Sssssss" (1973)
1973 | Color | 99 Minutes | 1.85:1 | PG | Horror | Stereo

Director:
Bernard L. Kowalski

Writers:
Hal Dresner

Stars:
Strother Martin
Dirk Benedict
Heather Menzies-Urich

David, a college student, is looking for a job. He is hired by Dr. Stoner as a lab assistant for his research and experiments on snakes. David also begins to fall for Stoner's young daughter, Kristina. However, the good doctor has secretly brewed up a serum that can transform any man into a King Cobra snake-and he plans to use it on David.

Two quick trivia: All the poisonous snakes featured were authentic and the cast actually did have to interact with them for filming. Only in the shot where Strother Martin grabs the King Cobra's head during the show was a puppet snake used.

This film was released by Universal as a double feature with The Boy Who Cried Werewolf, making the program one of the last double bills released by the studio.

  1. Did you get a chance to watch this? I remember it as pretty good up until the very bad ending! I like that little scarf and bow on Sven. :) Did you add those?

  2. I saw this movie years ago, and saw it on NETFLIX a few months ago. It was better when I was a little kid. I am sure it would have been awesome to watch on Svengoolie though, but I missed it. I just found out he was on MeTv last week. I'm watching Duck Soup on Sven now.

  4. Yeah I am. I have been a fan of Horror Hosts for years. When I was a kid we would visit my Grandparents near Akron Ohio, and they had Big Chuck and Little John, and also the Cool Ghoul. I grew up in an Area that did not have a local horror host, but we did have Elvira syndicated, so when I found Sven a couple weeks ago I was thrilled. He does a great job, and I am on here cecking out what is on tonight right now.
