Monster University

I have not done any Disney news in awhile but this trailer is fantastic. We already planed on seeing this movie June 21st and I think after you watch the trailer you might too.

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voiced by Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike's plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, "Sulley" (John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair's out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University's elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.

Here is a little bit more on Monster University from the park. First Disney announced that dureing Memoreial Day they will stay open 24 hours on May 24th. The Monsters have their own monorail wrap as well. And a short video from Inside the Magic showing Apcot Center taken over my Mike Wazowski.

Pacific Rim trailer From Wondercon

I know this is one of those must see summer block busters. But I'm still not sure I'm hooked. In fact I don't think this looks good at all. Just another summer flop is my guess.

Spoon! Music Monday

So in Honor of Free Comic Book Day this week here is the opening theme to one of my favorite comics The Tick!

The most terrifying film you will ever experience.

Evil Dead
2013 | Color | 91 Min | 2.35:1 | Stereo | Horror | Sony

Director: Fede Alvarez

Writers: Fede Alvarez

Jane Levy
Shiloh Fernandez
Lou Taylor Pucci

Five friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods. The evil presence possesses them until only one is left to fight for survival.

I can't say anything that has not been said already. Just like every body else I groaned when I heard they where remaking a classic. After seeing the movie I have no idea why I was so worried. The movie is a blast from the beginning to the end. The cast was likable the gore was over the top and the score was mesmerising.

This is one movie I could see again in the theatre. Way to go Fede Alvarez!

5 Bloody Brains!!!

Racists, beware! Ooga Booga

Ooga Booga!
2013 | Color | 80 Min | 1.37:1 | Stereo | Horror | Full Moon Horror

Directed by
Charles Band

Kent Roudebush

Karen Black
Gregory Blair
Ciarra Carter
Stacy Keach
George Ouzounian

Ooga Booga follows an innocent African American boy who is brutally murdered by dirty cops, but his soul is magically transferred into an action figure named Ooga Booga. With on his tribal spear and old girlfriend to help he takes to the streets and trailer parks to find the men that ended his once bright future.

Well not sure how to start reviewing this movie but here it goes. The flick opens with Hambo as a returning character from Zombies Vs Strippers. The whole reason for this scene is to sell you new merchandise. Yeah it kind of sets you up for the kid's sole going into the doll but nothing more. In fact its anti climatic. Chucky at least had a point. This is the slowest part of the movie thank god.

So after being shot by the raciest cop, Devon is now trapped in a doll body then finds his girlfriend so they can seek out revenge. NOW I need to stop myself for just a moment. One thing I have always said Full Moon does better then Asylum is the they use less CGI. That all ended with fake head shot's with little to no blood. Infact it pissed me off! It really kills the mood of the movie. So Full Moon has dipped low in the cheap editing category.  Thats a Bummer. But on the plus side they did have more then one location. In fact the use of stagnet shots help the pace this time around.

Ok so Devon finds his girlfriend they hash out a plot to take down the cops and the bad guys. Thats when we meet Mrs. Allardyce played by Karen Black. She really picks up this movie. Her bizarre character his played well her lines are perfect and she really is the only reason to watch this movie. All thou the puppet work on this movie is some of the best they have done. The acting in this is just so so in fact they are a boring cast. Then comes some more cheep CGI blood splatters. The bad guys are gone and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy aka Ooga and his girl can live happy ever after I think because I don't remember the end of the movie. Oh yeah wait Hambo gets rich and sends them money every thing is right in this world.

So what did I hate about this movie

  1. Stacy Keetch - Horrible acting and they probably paid him well.
  2. The Racism. I get it they where trying to ride the coat tails of Dejango it just did not work
  3. Hambo I did not like him in Zombies vs Strippers and I did not like him here
  4. Wade Wilson must have been fresh from acting school just needs more time.
  5. The really bad Kid Rock rip off song.
  6. CGI head shots really!! Come on.
  7. Lame death scenes
  8. Poor acting
  9. A tired plot
  10. Total Chucky rip off
What did I like you ask well

  1. Maddex that plays skeez. This guy is a blogger that got asked to do this movie and he did well. I liked his character and he pulled it off.
  2. Ooga Booga himself was done really well. I can see this spawning a series.
  3. Locations as in more then one in fact they did a few. It really helped with the pace of the movie.
  4. Ciarra Carter. The only rookie in this movie that could act.
  5. Karen Black! I can't say enough about her she is wonderful.
Cairra Carter

The bad seem to out way the good. I wanted to love this movie it was a great idea. But for the second time with in a year Full Moon let me down. I cant say watch this unless your really into B movies like myself. And even then take warning this movie is mediocre at best. Its worth a rental just for the Video Zone.

2 Bloody Brain

I would almost give this 3 stars just based on Cairra Carter and Karen Black alone.

Mars Attacks Vs Judge Dredd C2E2 Update

Offical Press Realse
Step on up and place your bets, folks! An army of angry green men bent on galactic conquest have landed in Mega-City One, but they didn’t count on the grizzled lawmaking legend of Judge Dredd standing in their way.

The skeptics say it’s one man versus an army, but obviously those naysayers don’t know the Judge named… Dredd!

It’s a September to remember! It’s bug eyes and disintegration rays versus a fully loaded Lawgiver and a zero-tolerance attitude in the Brawl for the Sprawl!

Get your tickets early, fight fans, because this September, MARS ATTACKS JUDGE DREDD!

You can pay for the whole seat, but you’ll only need the edge as these towering titans of total destruction do battle over four rounds of pulse-pounding punishment and crazed collateral damage!

Written by veteran Dredd writer “Action” Al Ewing, drawn by Mars Attacks’ “Joltin’” John McCrea, and sporting covers by “Gorgeous” Greg Staples, these villainous Martians are in for the fight of their lives when they take on Mega-City One’s favorite son.

Be on the lookout this September and pick up issue #1 at your local comic shop… IF IT’S STILL STANDING!

Watch for it this September!

A City Screams in Terror!

The Creature Walks Among Us
1956 | B&W | 78 Min | 1.37:1 | Mono | Horror | Universal

Director: John Sherwood

Writer: Arthur A. Ross

Stars: Jeff Morrow, Rex Reason, Leigh Snowden

The wealthy Dr. William Barton organizes an expedition to the Florida Everglades with the scientists Dr. Thomas Morgan, Dr. Borg and Dr. Johnson to capture the Creature. They navigate in the ship of Capt. Stanley with Jed Grant and Dr. Barton's wife Marcia Barton joins the team. Dr. Barton is paranoid with the jealousy of Marcia and Jed is harassing her in the trip. They chase and capture the Creature that is totally burnt. Without breathing through the gills, the Creature is turned into an air breather through his hidden lungs and brought to the ranch of Dr. Barton in California. Dr. Morgan defends the thesis that the Creature responds to the way that he is treated and asks people to be not violent with him. But Dr. Barton is near a breakdown with his jealousy of Marcia.

From Svengoolie "This much-requested 1956 “Creature” feature brings a close to the Gill Man’s story- but, as far as fans are concerned, we could have used more sequels! We’ll fill you in on the cast- some of whom you’ve seen before on our show- and add some added Sven flavoring- like trying to get the Gill Man used to civilization- such as it is!"

Sven will aslo be making his first public apperence in a few short minutes at C2E2 in Chicago.

Evil Dead Soundtrack

For me one of the best things about the new Evil Dead was is wonderful soundtrack. The score just sits in the back round drawing you in and smacking you in the face at all the right times. One of the best scores I have heard in a real long time. Worth the 9.90 price tag in ITunes. Or wait until May 6 for the CD that will contain more music.

The Invisible Woman
1940 | B&W | 72 Min | 1.37:1 | Mono | Comedy | Universal

A. Edward Sutherland

Curt Siodmak

Virginia Bruce
John Barrymore
John Howard

Eccentric Professor Gibbs, brilliant but impractical, invents an invisibility machine and advertises for a guinea pig. What he gets is Kitty Carroll, an attractive, adventurous model, who thinks being invisible would help her settle a few scores. Complications arise when three comic gangsters steal the machine to use on their boss. But they fail to reckon with the Revenge of the Invisible Woman!

Great news for tonight's show. Sven will be back in action. Sure he is starting slow and only filming new mail segments. This is fantastic news as Rich continues to fight on. Also if your heading to C2E2 Sven will be making his first public appearance Saturday night.
