The Uninvited
1944 | B&W | 99 Min | 1:37:1 | PG | Horror| Mono | Paramount

Director: Lewis Allen

Writers: Dodie Smith

Stars:
Ray Milland
Ruth Hussey
Donald Crisp
Alan Napier

A brother and sister move into an old seaside house they find abandoned for many years on the English coast. Their original enchantment with the house diminishes as they hear stories of the previous owners and meet their daughter (now a young woman) who now lives as a neighbor with her grandfather.

Also heard are unexplained sounds during the night. It becomes obvious that the house is haunted. The reasons for the haunting and how they relate to the daughter whom the brother is falling in love with, prove to be a complex mystery. As they are compelled to solve it, the supernatural activity at the house increases to a frightening level.

Here is a little trivia about The Uninvited. Dr. Scott played by Alan Napier is none other then Alfred from the Batman TV series. Was nominated for an Oscar Best Cinematography, Black-and-White Charles Lang in 1945. Uninvited was the first movie to take a ghost seriously.

“The Uninvited” invites you to watch on MeTV tonight at 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 pm central, or check local listings. Our fans in Baltimore will be happy to know that WBAL has heard their complaints about pre-emption- and are giving fans what they want- the entire Sven show will be seen, starting at 11 pm! We appreciate WBAL listening to the many fans who contacted them.

In Chicago, you can enjoy “The Incredible Shrinking Man” on WCIU, the U, at 11 am!

Halloween, Oct. 31st, 2014- is officially, according to the Illinois state and city of Chicago legislature, “Svengoolie/Rich Koz Day” in the city and state! The schedule isn’t completely set yet- but check www.svengoolie.com to see what he will be doing!

Just poke me in the eye! Terror Vision

Killer Eye
1999 | Color | 72 Min | 1:85:1 | R | Horror| 2.0 | Full Moon Horror

Directed by:
Richard Chasen

Writers:
Benjamin Carr
Rolfe Kanefsky

Cast:
Nanette Bianchi
Ryan Van Steenis
Jonathan Norman
Jacqueline Lovell
Dave Oren Ward

In an attempt to prove his theory that the human eye is the gateway to another dimension, a brilliant ophthalmologist performs his final experiment on an unwitting homeless subject. As in all previous attempts, it seems to be yet another miserable waste of life. But something begins to stir in one of the still eye sockets of the victim. The dead man's eye rises into the air and expands to enormous size. A new form of life has begun. A seemingly invincible being of pure light energy – driven by a hunger for knowledge and a taste for young women. It's feeding time.
wait what?

So after watching Killer Eye 2 Halloween Haunt I was eager to say the one that started it all. Killer Eye 2 was not great but very entertaining. Silly me for thinking that this would be more of the same. All this movie provides is soft core porn with an eyeball. No really and in slow motion as well.

Yes the Eyeball is making love in the shower.
Now the eye candy does go both ways as it is a very good looking and young cast. But if you look up what other work they did most of them never worked again. I think this movie destroyed acting careers.

And the ending! Ugh really I'm sure it's not much of a spoiler when I say both ladies end the movie moaning in pain holding their stomachs. But thank god that is not how the sequel started. In fact the only part of the first movie in the sequel is the video playing in the background on TV. I'm a Full Moon Fan and understand fully what I'm getting into when I pop one of their movies in. But this one was the bottom of the barrel. As for it's cult like following why I ask? Why??

I'm going to stop now.

Rated R for strong bizarre sexual content, some drug use and language. Duh.

Vintage Halloween Stencils

Nothing says Halloween and Family like carving the jack-o-lantern. So for this family night how about a few vintage pumpkin stencils.

Here is the link to stencils that I posted back in 2011 Vintage Halloween Stencils.

Pumpkin Pie in a Bottle.

Brewed by:
O'Fallon Brewery
Missouri, United States

Style | ABV
Pumpkin Ale | 5.60% ABV

Availability: Fall

Notes/Commercial Description:
Like pumpkin pie in a bottle...we add 136 pounds of real pumpkin to the three-barley mash and then season the finished beer with cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.

The second you pop the top you are hit with the sweet smell of Pumpkin. It pours the color of pumpkin pie with a nice head.

It truly has a full bodied taste that screams Halloween! This would be a brew I would hand out to the adults out trick or treating with the kids. Very smooth flavor and aroma making this a dream come true. I know a few more Pumpkin beers to go but this one is the top of the chart so far.

If you're a Halloween fan or a Pumpkin flavor fan you owe it to yourself to try this bad boy! Cheers.

More Dead Ahead

In case you have not heard The Walking Dead has renewed for a 6th season.

Zombie Ass on Zombie Tuesday

Zombie Ass: The Toilet of the Dead
2011 | Color | 85 Min | 1:85:1 | R | Horror| 5.1 | Arcimboldo Y.K

Director: Noboru Iguchi

Writers: Noboru Iguchi

Stars:
Arisa Nakamura
Mayu Sugano
Asana Mamoru

Wracked with guilt over the suicide of her bullied sister, young karate student Megumi accompanies four older friends on a trip into the woods: smart girl Aya, her druggie boyfriend Také, full-figured model Maki, and nerdy Naoi. Things start to go badly when Maki finds a parasitical worm inside a fish - and wolfs it down, in the hope that it will keep her skinny. Soon after, they are attacked by a crowd of poop-covered undead who emerge from an outhouse toilet. The group seeks refuge in the home of the strange Dr. Tanaka, who conducts experiments on the zombies and the parasites ... and who has another fate in mind for the five strangers. Can Megumi's karate help them escape, or will she have to rely on the liberating power of flatulence to defeat her demented captor?

We are always looking for something different when it comes to Zombies. Of course, the title alone makes you look twice. After watching the trailer I knew then it was a must-see. The only problem finding it. I scoured convention floors looking for this then one day there it was on good old Netflix.

After getting the kids in bed it was time to watch cute little Japanese girls kick zombie ass. The movie is a cliche of American zombie flicks. Of course, the cast has its druggie, smart girl, babe, and of course a nerd. So with that being said, it was kind of a letdown. It was not really a fresh idea even though the vision was quite entertaining with some new elements tossed in.

All in all, it's a fun hour and twenty-five minutes that can go either way to a zombie fan. I'm glad I witnessed this film but I'm also glad I did not waste money on it. It's more of a parasite fart joke movie than a zombie flick in "The End" I still recommend checking out Zombie Ass: The Toilet of the dead. The Incredible Shrinking Man
1957 | Color | 81 Min | 1:85:1 | PG-13 | Sci-Fi | Mono | Universal

Director:
Jack Arnold

Writers:
Richard Matheson

Stars:
Grant Williams
Randy Stuart
April Kent

Scott Carey and his wife Louise are sunning themselves on their cabin cruiser, the small craft adrift on a calm sea. While his wife is below deck, a low mist passes over him. Scott, lying in the sun, is sprinkled with glittery particles that quickly evaporate.

Later he is accidentally sprayed with an insecticide while driving and, in the next few days, he finds that he has begun to shrink. First just a few inches, so that his clothes no longer fit, then a little more. Soon he is only three feet tall, and a national curiosity. At six inches tall he can only live in a doll's house and even that becomes impossible when his cat breaks in. Scott flees to the cellar, his wife thinks he has been eaten by the cat and the door to the cellar is closed, trapping him in the littered room where, menaced by a giant spider, he struggles to survive.

They just don't make them like this anymore. Sure you can tell it's on a sound stage but nevertheless its a fun time. One of the effects was archived by filling condoms up with water to create giant drops of water.

Writer Richard Matheson also penned a sequel "The Fantastic Shrinking Girl" but was eventually scrapped by Universal. So here are a few goofs to watch for. When Scott approaches the bird behind the wire mesh, he is holding the piece of cake with his left hand. Next shot the piece of cake is in his right hand. When Scott and Louise are talking with the doctor and she remembers the day they were in the boat and he mentions the mist, Louise's shirt changes to black as they get into the car.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1980 film)

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
1980 | Color | 104 Min | 1:33:1 | G | Comedy | Mono | NBC
Directed by Henning Scheller

Cast:
Jeff Goldblum as Ichabod Crane
Paul Sand as Frederic Dutcher
Meg Foster as Katrina Van Tassel
Laura Campbell as Thelma Dumkey
Dick Butkus as Brom Bones

A TV adaptation of Washington Irving's classic ghost story. Jeff Goldblum is a nerdish Ichabod Crane that supplies the show with its lite hearted comedic edge, Dick Butkus is appropriately nasty Brom Bones, and Meg Foster as spirited Katrina van Tassel. Angered that Katrina has grown fond of schoolmaster Crane, Brom Bones determines to scare off the interloper by filling his head with spooky tales of a Headless Horseman. Crane pooh-poohs the legends, until one fateful ride home in the dark of night.

I picked up this VHS (yes I still have a working VCR) for a very low price. I never heard of this version so I felt it was a no-brainer. What an amazing and fun way to watch a classic tale. Steering clear of the traditional story you get that look and feel of an after-school special. I was immediately drawn into this movie's atmosphere. And the stellar cast was a hoot. Goldblum and Butkus are fantastic together. The comedy is not over the top and the ghost story behind it all is very tame and family-friendly.

Why is this movie not on DVD or shown on TV today? It holds up well to the test of time. And I would really love to see the television broadcast from that Halloween Night back in 1980 hosted by Steve Allen and Gary Coleman who performed skits at the commercial breaks. If you can find this little spooky gem I say pick it up, pop some corn and watch it this holiday season.

The VHS is going for anywhere around $5.00 to $40.00! And to think I picked this up for a wild 10 cents. Personally, I will be pulling this out for years to come around Halloween.

Octoberfest

Source Photo from Sam Adams web site.
I love nothing more than cracking open that first brew of the fall season. And being a huge Leinekugel fan I was out to find something different.

The popularity of Samuel Adams peeked my curiosity. As the bartender poured my first glass you can instantly see the dark ruby red color fill. The color quickly fades into a crisp copper looking beer with a very small head. The aroma was kind of a citrus and caramelized sugar with a distinct malt flavor.

And the taste being pretty close to a sweet citrus malt. Put them all together and you defiantly have that  wind blowing in the colored leaves on a gorgeous fall afternoon feel and taste. This is truly a fall beer and can defiantly be enjoyed on a fun football Sunday with the guys or while raking the yard.

I would rate Samuel Adams Octoberfest a 3.5 out of 5.
