Upset by rumors that Halloween may end, Dracula calls his mild-mannered monsters together and delivers an ultimatum - either regain their frightening image or leave his Transylvania castle forever.

I grew up watching this special that was resurrected by Disney in the 80's and 90's as part of their Halloween lineup and almost forgot all about it. Sadly this special cannot be found on DVD or Blu yet and the old VHS tapes are highly sought after in the collector world. But thanks to the powers to be *cough, cough* YouTube this classic can live on for now.

From the Twilight Zone to the Brady Bunch director Bruce Bilson does TV right and deliveries a fun-filled Halloween special that should still be shared with Pumpkin Heads today!

Judd Hirsch plays are wacky leader Count Dracula out to stop the rumors that Halloween will be canceled. As the plot thickens, we learn that are dear Witch played by Mariette Hartley who was nominated for an Emmy for her role. In fact, Bob O'Bradovich won an Emmy for best make-up you know the guy who did the make-up for Blood Sucking Freaks, let that sink in.

Despite its poor VHS quality Halloween that Almost Wasn't is still worth the ride 38 years later! The story is still fun, the make-up is spot on (Well if you forgive the Mummy get up what the heck was that?) and the great disco-era ending still works just fine. So grab your kids have them show you how to use YouTube grab your bowel of Candy Corn and relax to this wonderful Halloween special of yesteryear.

Drac I give you,

4 Happy Candy Corns out of 5
