22 years after the original Jurassic Park failed, the new park (also known as Jurassic World) is open for business. After years of studying genetics, the scientists on the park genetically engineer a new breed of dinosaur. When everything goes horribly wrong, will our heroes make it off the island?

Sense movie making is a team effort you have to give its nod's to the whole crew on this one. From all those glorious easter eggs to an amazing looking world you are transported into. Can you really say anything bad about this movie? Jurassic World is an amazing movie just like it's older brother Jurassic Park.

Sorry Bruce
The location and the mood set by JW have to be one of the biggest stars. Don't get me wrong the Dinosaurs are great and I will get to that. But the way Jurassic World wrap's you into is environment makes you feel safe and warm just like being at Disney World even though you know all hell is going to break loose at some point. The story is very believable as well giving you the hints at mad scientist going where no man should go like they did in the first movie. I also enjoyed the new soundtrack and how they used the cues from the main JP theme in the undertones of the score.

Leave my walk-man alone!

Let's talk about the surround sound for just a moment shall we. Earlier this past summer we sat and watched Jurassic Park with the girls during one of our Family Movie nights, and the surround sound helped make the dinosaurs so real that it did freak out my 7-year-old.  She was more prepared this time around so we thought. This movie pushes the limits of the bass to the max! Our living room was rattling so much that the snow was falling off the roof! I did study sound mixing and it is always one of the key elements to me when I watch a movie so this movie just blew me away. When you can feel the big dinosaurs running like they are with you this really helps put you into the landscape!  And again brought my youngest into my wife's lap. Now don't panic she is like me nothing really bothers her but she was so into the movie she just needed a safe place to sit. This was also the first time my oldest watched an intense movie and did not say a word! We thought for sure that both kids would have had nightmares that night and surprisingly they did not!

With all this good sorry to say there was some bad. The characters and acting were just ok. Calm down people Chris Pratt was great in fact he made me want to revisit Guardians and give that one a second chance. Then there is Bryce Dallas Howard who took me out of the movie many times. She just did not impress me at all. And as for the kids the back story was not there so you really don't understand why parents would ship them off alone on this trip! No really why would you do that? Now Vincent D'Onofrio was spot on as the dirty bad guy! You just could not wait until he got what he deserved.

I always know when I'm watching something really good when it ends and I can say safely "I did not see that coming!". Even my wife was shocked when I said that out loud as she knows it's not something I say much at all. Now I don't want to give anything away but the epic battle at the end shocked me and that never really happens for me. The final battle does come off a little hokey making me wonder if this was some attempt at those Godzilla movies from the 60's. Never the less it was a great to watch dino fight! As far as scare factor for my girls they both loved it and said they would watch that again so I turned to my wife and said they are ready for Jaws. If you have not seen this movie you owe it to yourself to check it out. The gore is pretty low thanks to clever camera angles. Tho you do get blood and people do get eaten, but it is done so well that you forget you are watching a dinosaur movie.

My only regret has to be not seeing this on the big screen like we intended this summer. Never the less this made for a great family movie night so pop up some corn and load up the Blu-Ray player turn down the lights and buckle in for a fun and bumpy ride!

  1. The original Jurassic Park scared the living bejesus out of me so I decided not to see the sequel. But hey, hasn't Chris Pratt's career just taken off like a rocket, eh?
