Honeymooning in Hungary, Joan and Peter Allison share their train compartment with Dr. Vitus Verdegast, a courtly but tragic man who is returning to the remains of the town he defended before becoming a prisoner of war for fifteen years. When their hotel-bound bus crashes in a mountain storm and Joan is injured, the travellers seek refuge in the home, built fortress-like upon the site of a bloody battlefield, of famed architect Hjalmar Poelzig. There, cat-phobic Verdegast learns his wife's fate, grieves for his lost daughter, and must play a game of chess for Allison's life.

Another fantastic week for classic Sven. With a 65 minute run time you can count on classic clips a song or two and Svensurround! Black Cat was Universals biggest hit in 1934 and was the first of eight movies for the duo of Karloff and Lugosi. This was also one of the fist movies to have a score playing continuously in the background. This was very unusual for the time. Soundtracks only ran during the opening and closing credits.

This movie is also part of horror host history as it was part of the original SHOCK THEATER package of 52 Universal titles released to television in 1957, followed a year later with SON OF SHOCK, which added 21 more features.

Sick of this Flu stuff!

So what a day this has been. First we all needed to get up early to head to Ella's Doctor visit. Its a good hour and a half drive so 5:45 am was not easy. Then looking out the window I noticed that it has snowed and no plows where out doing the streets! So add more time to the trip.

Upon entering the hospital the girls where stopped and asked to put on mask's. Well I understand why but my four year old had no clue! She was so scared she would not move. This flu thing is getting crazy.

The good news Ella's A1C score came back much better then we thought it would and the visit was not bad. But when it was over Lainey did not want to leave she just did not want to go back out into the hall way. I think she washed her hands 100 times.

Oh well everything ended fine for them they went and built a bear and drug daddy around shopping for hours     on end.

Rockford Icehogs or...

Should we call them the Rockford Peach's. If your going to start one of the biggest hockey fight in Ice Hog history (643 penalty minutes combined) you might not want to do it wearing pink.

“I think it was just a push and shove at the faceoff, and then a fight started (between Rockford’s Kyle Beach and the Griffins’ Riley Sheahan). It went from there.” Coach Ted Dent said.

Dent agreed when asked if frustration might have set in among his players after being called for five consecutive minor penalties in the first 11 minutes of the second period. He even lost count.

“I think they just lost track maybe,” he said. “They explained it to me that it was seven on my team and four on theirs. It didn’t make sense to me, but there was nothing we could do at the time.” Rockford lost 11-6 in the setback to Grand Rapids at BMO Harris Bank Center.Center. If you have not seen this master piece on ice thanks to the wonders of you tube now you can enjoy I know I did.

When discovered by the cult, the High Lamian Priest vows that "the Cobra Goddess will avenge herself". Once back in the United States, a mysterious woman enters into their lives and accidents begin to happen. The shadow of a cobra is seen just before each death.

Wow I'm jealous of everybody that gets to watch this today. Cult of the Cobra will be a classic Sven episode from a few years back! I'll be tuning in to "Islnad of lost souls" I sure hope everybody enjoys tonights showing of Cobra.

Oh and did you know all five of this movie's leading men later starred in at least one successful TV series: Richard Long ("The Big Valley"), Marshall Thompson ("Daktari"), William Reynolds ("The F.B.I."), Jack Kelly ("Maverick"), and David Janssen ("The Fugitive").

The Last Exorcism Part 2 Trailer

CBS Films has finally released a trailer for writer/director Ed Gass-Donnelly's The Last Exorcism Part II, starring Ashley Bell, Spencer Treat Clark and Andrew Sensenig. The supernatural sequel to producer Eli Roth's 2010 horror film, The Last Exorcism, possesses U.S. theaters on March 1, 2013.

And as I suspected it looks terrible. Just when horror was winning the box office battle. The world does not need another PG-13 exorcism movie. Based on the offal poster and crappy trailer this will be a skip for me.

Have a Happy Sunday

I'm not reading any reviews of TCM until I have had a chance to see it. Its been a rough weekend.

How about this weeks description coming from the man himself take it away cha....sorry Sven.

Tonight on Me-TV, it’s the movie that made Sven history back in the 80s when I presented it in 3-D- “Revenge of the Creature”!
The Gill Man resurfaces, gets captured and brought to America- specifically, a Florida Marineland-like theme park- where they try to communicate with him (with an electric probe?!)Needless to say, no theme park can hold him- and Florida becomes a disaster area when the Creature roams free!
You can catch “Revenge of the Creature” (only in 2-D this time)tonight on Me-TV throughout the country-10 pm eastern, 9 pm central, etc.Our Chicago fans can get another helping of “Duck Soup” at 11 am on WCIU, the U!
For those who heard my interview with Dave Plier on WGN, and were concerned and unsure about something they heard- yes, sadly, I DID say that, for several days after my heart attack, things were touch and go.Happily, and through the efforts of the medical team and my family- I made it through it all. Now, go watch the Gill Man and relax! New "Carrie" poster and theatrical date.

Looks like Brian De Palma's remake "Carrie" is getting a better theatrical release date. Sony is making a wise discussion moving Carrie from March to a much better audience time slot of October 18 of this year. This will also place the movie up against another Julianne Moore film The Seventh Son. Now Sony just published the new poster that shows the March date I'm sure I will post the new one sheet when it is available. Looking forward to this movie and love the date change.

The Last Exorcism Part II? Why?

The Last Exorcism Part 2
2013 | Color | TBA Minutes | 1.37:1 | R | Horror | Dolby | Studio Canal

Director:
Ed Gass-Donnelly

Writers:
Ed Gass-Donnelly
Damien Chazelle

Stars:
Ashley Bell
Spencer Treat Clark
Andrew Sensenig

Teenage Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) is found dirty and terrified in the woods having just escaped a demon ritual in which a cult helped her give birth to a demon baby. Confused and scared, Nell is examined by doctors but she doesn’t remember much about the previous few months except that as a result of everything, her family is now dead. She is moved into Davreaux – a girls’ halfway house in New Orleans, where she will try to put her life back together with the help of the therapist, Frank Merle. She even begins to date a boy named Chris and starts a job at a local hotel. But something doesn’t feel right to Nell. She is being sought after by the demon who possessed her in the first LAST EXORCISM. It wants Nell, but in a different way than before…

How did this pass by me? Never heard that they where doing another. Eli Roth is back producing the sequel to 2010's surprise hit The Last Exorcism .  I do think the cheese of the poster has backed a few fans away. In case you don't see the girl is making a 2, yeah bad I know. So we wait to see the trailer that should float to the top any day now with a March 1 release date looming.

Happy New Year!

Started 2013 on the right foot! Way to go Northwestern Wildcats.
